As a first-generation college student, I was scared of entering graduate school applications because of my inexperience. I met Krysta through her personal statement seminar and immediately reached out. She guided me through my personal statements, allowing me to express myself in a way I could not have done alone. I got into most of the schools I applied to and received a full-time job offer in my industry because a recruiter I talked to in passing was impressed by my personal statements. I have since deviated away from graduate school because the job offer I received was the exact job I was seeking a master's degree to get. I'm so grateful to Kyrsta. I received so many opportunities because of her help; I cannot recommend her enough.

I did my very first mock interview with Reagan and she was really helpful. She came in well-prepared and asked thoughtful questions, very much similar to the real HBS interview. She also provided super helpful feedback especially as I was going to interview virtually with the admissions team. Highly recommend her!

Kerry played a huge part in boosting my confidence and giving me tactical advice to prepare for my HBS interview. There were no surprises during my actual interview since Kerry had already expected a lot of the questions and helped me prepare for them. Thanks so much for all your great advice and helping me get into HBS.

I worked with Madeleine to put together MPhil applications in history for Cambridge and Oxford; these programs required a research proposal, a writing sample, and a personal statement. Madeleine, with her unwavering enthusiasm and patience, instilled in me the confidence to tackle these applications. In this process, she shaped me into a stronger thinker and writer, as is covered in more detail below: Research Proposal Having graduated a few years back with a non-history degree, I wanted to work with a historian who, much like a professor, would help guide me in crafting an effective research proposal. Madeleine, in this capacity, was brilliant. During our first call, she asked a number of questions in order to understand the particular research area that interested me and why I was drawn to that area and history at large. The ensuing conversation brought to light how my ostensibly peripheral interest in literature (fiction) had in fact impelled my interest in history by virtue of certain themes (space and time). And these themes, in turn, provided the lens through which I could then form an intervention in the scholarship around my earmarked research area. That Madeleine seamlessly drew out the natural historian in me, encouraging me to incorporate—rather than exclude—my eccentricities into the very scope of my research immersed me all the more in the writing process. Madeleine just as well served as an incisive sounding board which helped me to flesh out my intervention on a conceptual level within my broader research scope. Our discussions, here, addressed each component of my intervention: (a) the scholarship gap (b) my research question (c) my methodological approach and (d) the research significance. I was then able to translate these conceptual sketches into a cohesive proposal. I appreciated how Madeleine pushed me to break up this project into phases (conceptualization and execution) through which I gradually refined each element (research lens and intervention) and component (see intervention) of the proposal. Writing Sample Next, I decided to re-center—and re-write—a political science paper of mine from college around a historical argument for a more suitable writing sample. Madeleine reviewed my outline with an eye for the appropriate nature of those concepts on which I planned to base my argument. She even went as far as to recommend some compelling history books for my research. Then, when I completed a draft, Madeleine stylized my turns of phrase such that my analysis more reflected a historian's reading. I appreciated how Madeleine, herself a history PHD candidate, advised me on a paper much as she would her own students in university. Personal Statement Lastly, I was concerned that my motley academic (non-history) and professional (management consulting) background would blunt my candidacy for an MPhil in history of all things. Madeleine, however, saw that there was an arc to my narrative and that my skills paralleled those of a historian. I appreciated the creative attention with which she perused my CV, encouraging me to cast my background as 'multi-faceted' rather than 'motley'.
