About Logan
Born and raised in Tennessee, my career quickly took three parallel directions: business (MBA and strategy consulting), psychology (another Master's degree and a 2-year residency at a meditation center), and education (teaching everything from mindfulness to test-prep to psychology at a college). These three paths have converged for the past 5+ years into professional leadership development, beginning with my time at McKinsey, and leading to hundreds of hours of coaching and advising. I've done everything from designing to delivering leadership programs, to every level from individual contributor to C-suite, for 1 person up to 3,000. I found the coaching components to be most impactful and rewarding, so I've recently taken my experiences to start my own firm, focused on executive coaching for individuals and teams. 'Executive coaching' includes any type of coaching related to someone's professional life. Common topics include: leadership, career transition, burnout, wellness, managing up, managing down, climbing the ladder, motivation, etc.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I find that it's the most potent way to help people achieve clarity and transformations. I've been in psychology and leadership development for many years, and something about the coaching engagement yields better results than I've seen doing comprehensive development programs for hundreds of corporate senior leaders. I believe the difference is that in, at least my, coaching approach, the client is the expert and it's my job to help bring out their wisdom and expertise (rather than me being the expert 'telling' people what they should do). People are invariably surprised at how much wisdom and clarity they have within them. They'll often end sessions by thanking me for the helpful advice, but if you were to look at a transcript, I offered no advice. Just questions and reflections that helped them find direction, alignment, or whatever their goal was.
