Kathryn has helped clients get into these companies:
I specialize in helping people grow their leadership capacities by rebalancing their professional and personal drivers. My expertise derives from my training, my experience coaching people through personal and professional challenges, and my own development arc. My approach incorporates established frameworks of human development, including Adaptive Leadership (Dr. Ronald Heifetz, Harvard Kennedy School), Adult Developmental Theory (Dr. Bob Kegan, Harvard University), and Immunity to Change (Drs. Bob Kegan & Lisa Lahey, Harvard University). I have completed Immunity to Change facilitator training with Minds at Work and Peer Coaching training with the Harvard University Peer Coaching Initiative. I am pursuing my PCC-level ICF coaching certification as part of Cultivating Leadership's coach certification program (entitled "Coaching Leaders for a Complex World"). I've coached clients through their professional and personal goals (job change, pivot, starting a business), facilitated conversations among strangers about leadership challenges, and facilitated workshops on change and leadership for 100 people -- all which goes strongly against my introvert "lines of code." My leadership development arc has involved a massive career pivot and a brisk walk from quiet "wallflower" to entrepreneur. To stay present and true to my values, I've worked to integrate and cultivate my competing identities -- e.g., introvert v. entrepreneur follower v. trailblazer, and self-authoring v. collectivist -- and sometimes build new identities. About Kathryn
I am guided by asking questions, unfolding constraints, and treating people with dignity. With expertise in human development, executive functioning, behavioral science, and leadership development, I bring over ten years of experience as a mentor, advisor, and coach for people seeking change. I specialize in Career and Leadership Development coaching as well as Executive Functioning coaching. My approach incorporates established frameworks of leadership and human development, including Adaptive Leadership (Dr. Ronald Heifetz, Harvard Kennedy School), Adult Development Theory (Dr. Bob Kegan, Harvard University), and Immunity to Change (Drs. Bob Kegan & Lisa Laskow Lahey, Harvard University). My Executive Functioning curriculum leans on research-backed strategies to address both the behavioral changes (e.g., implementing study skills) and the mindset shift (e.g., experimental, proactive) needed to advance learners’ outcomes and orientations towards transitions, work, and learning. I am pursuing my PCC-level coaching certification with the International Coaching Federation as part of Cultivating Leadership's "Coaching Leaders for a Complex World" program. Previously, I worked as a project manager and lead analyst in economic consulting, conducting analyses and managed projects for antitrust lawsuits. My graduate research and nonprofit consulting engagements have explored how personal development can unlock economic development, how digital equity initiatives can be climate resilient, and how teams can thoughtfully and inclusively adapt to new processes or systems. I enjoy work that combines data and analysis with creativity, eccentricity, and joy -- things that are systematic and procedural with things that are nebulous and human. I like working at the edge of what is measurable. I grew up navigating extremes and bridging differences, traveling between New York City, rural Illinois, and Austin TX, and between private and public school environments. I grew up being the 'music kid' in my school and family spaces, and the 'serious school kid' in my classical music spaces -- never quite feeling like I fit in either place. Differences teach me how to listen deeply and attune to the music beneath the words of what people are saying. My recent battles involve finding my voice and courage and "lifting the roof" to dream bigger.
