10+ people coached for Career Coaching
Kathryn has helped clients get into these companies:
I specialize in helping ambitious people find clarity to make career decisions that others call risky. I've coached people through finding new career paths, deciding on grad school, changing jobs, and launching businesses. My clients are leaders and high performers who are considering moves that involve risks or don't fit the traditional narrative—major career pivots, walking away from prestigious opportunities, or choosing the less “safe” option. My approach is rooted in established frameworks—Adult Developmental Theory, Adaptive Leadership, and Immunity to Change, among others. I've received training in leading and managing change from Harvard Kennedy School, Minds at Work, and Cultivating Leadership, and I am currently pursuing my PCC-level ICF coaching certification. Most career coaching is advice-based and about minimizing or managing risk. I help people do something much harder: rebalance your risk appetite and find unconventional ways to take smart risks. My coaching is about rethinking your “negative space” to expand what's possible. Whether you're navigating a pivot or weighing a decision that feels like it defies conventional wisdom, I'll help you find clarity and take action.

About Kathryn
Guided by asking questions, unfolding constraints, and treating people with dignity. With expertise in human development, executive functioning, behavioral science, and leadership development, I bring over ten years of experience as a mentor, advisor, and coach for people seeking change. I specialize in Career and Leadership Development coaching as well as Executive Functioning coaching. My approach incorporates established frameworks of leadership and human development, including Adaptive Leadership (Dr. Ronald Heifetz, Harvard Kennedy School), Adult Development Theory (Dr. Bob Kegan, Harvard University), and Immunity to Change (Drs. Bob Kegan & Lisa Laskow Lahey, Harvard University). My Executive Functioning curriculum leans on research-backed strategies to address both the behavioral changes (e.g., implementing study skills) and the mindset shift (e.g., experimental, proactive) needed to advance learners’ outcomes and orientations towards transitions, work, and learning. I am pursuing my PCC-level coaching certification with the International Coaching Federation as part of Cultivating Leadership's "Coaching Leaders for a Complex World" program. Previously, I worked as a project manager and lead analyst in economic consulting, conducting analyses and managed projects for antitrust lawsuits. My graduate research and nonprofit consulting engagements have explored how personal development can unlock economic development, how digital equity initiatives can be climate resilient, and how teams can thoughtfully and inclusively adapt to new processes or systems. I enjoy work that combines data and analysis with creativity, eccentricity, and joy -- things that are systematic and procedural with things that are nebulous and human. I like working at the edge of what is measurable. I grew up navigating extremes and bridging differences, traveling between New York City, rural Illinois, and Austin TX, and between private and public school environments. I grew up being the 'music kid' in my school and family spaces, and the 'serious school kid' in my classical music spaces -- never quite feeling like I fit in either place. Differences teach me how to listen deeply and attune to the music beneath the words of what people are saying. My recent battles involve finding my voice and courage and "lifting the roof" to dream bigger.
Why do I coach?
I love serving as both a mirror and a window for my clients. As a mirror, I reflect back to you what I hear and see from careful observational listening. As a window, I help you explore your "growth edges" and (re)imagine what is possible. My story was made possible by truly great coaching. After several years in economic consulting—where I was the first at my firm to obtain US-to-Canada visa sponsorship and one of 3 to receive a nonstandard promotion for project management—I made a bold career pivot into coaching and organizational change management. Within a year, my practice grew to support my lifestyle and growth. The professional coaching I received along the way helped me no longer rely on anyone’s permission or approval. My dad, my most steadfast coach, still challenges me to question my assumptions and renegotiate my relationship with risk.
