I graduated from Harvard with the John Harvard Scholarship (top 5% GPA), a major in Integrative Biology, and a minor in Computer Science. I have over 6 years of experience working as a full-time tutor for the ACT, SAT, and SSAT. I have worked with over 55 clients on the ACT alone, and I have taken almost every practice test that has been released since 2014. In my free time, I create ACT software for the TI-Nspire Calculator and free online instructional videos for a wide audience. On average, my students have enjoyed improvements of anywhere between 4-9 points on the ACT. I know how to teach the English sections so that you will receive a perfect score. In the two tutoring companies I have worked for in the past, I was promoted to the highest tutoring status. I also work with college admissions, and of the six students I worked with this year, three received interviews to Harvard. Carl has taught, literally, thousands of students to succeed on the ACT, and thousands more the SAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT, over a career spanning over two decades in the test preparation world. Originally an academic, he holds advanced degrees from Yale, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Georgia, and since leaving academia he has taught, tutored, and written content for Magoosh, Kaplan, Harvard Prep, SuccessPrep, Parliament Tutors, Varsity Tutors, and many other companies, and has since founded his own company, Ivory Tower Tutoring. He was also, for many years, the chief writer for Barron''s GMAT product line.

I have been a full-time tutor for over a decade now, and during that time I've worked with more than 300 students prepping for the ACT. Many students come to me after having taken the test once already, but I have also helped plenty of students prepare for their first taking of the test. Those who spend at least 10 sessions with me regularly experience improvement of at least 3 points on their composite score. Most students I have worked with reach out for help with a specific section of the ACT, but I have provided full test preparation for many others. For the English section, I provide expert guidance on grammatical rules and rhetorical techniques. For ACT Math, I offer extensive review on both the basics and advanced skills, while also teaching test-taking and calculator skills. Concentrated work on the English or Math section often yields improvement of at least 4 points in that section.
