For 10 years, the Harvard Business School MBA felt like a distant dream. I didn’t come from a target school, a brand-name firm, or a background admissions committees are used to saying “yes” to. No one from my undergrad, master’s, or organization had ever gone to HBS. Coming from an over-represented pool made it even harder. But I still got in. I did it by understanding what elite MBA programs actually look for and by crafting a story that stood out in a sea of similar profiles.
