As a current JD/MBA candidate at the University of Pennsylvania (Wharton and Penn Law), I’ve seen firsthand how an authentic and strategic approach can help candidates stand out. Having taken an unconventional path into law school, business school, and finance, I’m passionate about helping other non-traditional candidates do the same.

I was admitted to Stanford Law School during one of their most competitive admissions cycles (2021). I can speak to law school admissions, as well as the unique challenges of being a JD-PhD applicant. I've coached dozens of students successfully through law school admissions, and I can coach you too!

While I just started my own law school admissions consulting business in 2025, I have nearly a decade of experience in law school admissions with eight of those years being at the University of Houston Law Center. I have read thousands of law school applications and can help you put your best foot forward in the application process. I will work with just about anyone, but I specialize in helping individuals from underrepresented communities find their perfect law school fit and those who aren't necessarily aiming for Ivy Leagues/T-14/T-30 schools (but if that's your goal, I'm more than happy to help). I’m a first-year law student who has recently navigated the law school admissions process and successfully helped friends do the same. I know firsthand how overwhelming the LSAT and application process can be and how difficult it is to raise your score while managing anxiety and pressure. Through targeted strategies and mindset shifts, I was able to raise my LSAT score to a near-perfect range, and I now help others do the same. My approach focuses on helping you to understand how the test works, not just memorizing tactics, so you can see consistent score improvements with confidence. Beyond the LSAT, I help applicants craft compelling, authentic personal statements that stand out regardless of numbers. I also offer resume editing and strategy: I recently received BigLaw offers in New York City before my 1L grades were released, an outcome I strongly attribute to how my resume told a clear and compelling story. I'm a Columbia Law 3L who was admitted to law schools across Canada and the U.S., including the University of Ottawa's dual-degree program straight out of high school, the University of Alberta Faculty of Law at age 19 after just two years of undergrad, and multiple T-14 programs with full-tuition scholarships to two of them. I also successfully negotiated my Columbia Law scholarship up. At Columbia, I'm a Davis Polk Leadership Initiative Fellow and Tony Patiño Fellow-Elect. I help applicants craft personal statements, build cohesive application narratives, prepare for interviews, and develop scholarship negotiation strategies. I've spent years coaching people through high-stakes communication as the founder of TalkMaze and as a competitive debate coach, and law school applications are where all of those skills come together. During my tenure at Stanford, I evaluated thousands of graduate applications annually and gained deep insight into how elite institutions assess candidates pursuing legal education combined with other disciplines.

Welcome to my profile. I hold a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and bring extensive experience in law school admissions consulting. I am the Founder and Principal Consultant of CW Admissions, drawing on experience guiding more than 100 applicants through the law school admissions process across national admissions consulting organizations and nonprofit initiatives, as well as experience as an application reader at a top-ten law school. My work focuses on application strategy, narrative development, and overall positioning. I help applicants identify their strongest themes, evaluate whether their materials are working at the admissions level, and understand how their applications function as a whole. Beyond initial submissions, I advise clients on post-submission strategy, including waitlist communications, letters of continued interest, and scholarship negotiation. My approach is highly individualized and coach-driven, with an emphasis on judgment, clarity, and thoughtful decision-making in a competitive admissions landscape.

Daniel Khalessi served as President of the Stanford Law Review and is a startup and venture capital lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco. He is passionate about helping others turn their personal experiences into powerful stories and achieve their dreams. Having lost his Dad at a young age, Daniel understands what it is like to overcome challenges. A product of Bay Area public schools, Daniel earned a B.A. from Stanford, M.A. in Global Affairs from Yale, M.A. in Economics (China Studies) from Peking University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in constitutional law and earned prizes for outstanding performance. He previously worked as a startup lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP and as a China analyst at Harvard's Belfer Center.
