Seasoned pre-dental coach and mentor. After mentoring and guiding many pre-dental students throughout my dental school years, I've created a handful of PDFs and documents that I can provide you with in addition to my live attention. My first experience with the application process was my own, where I was successfully accepted to my top 3 programs that I wanted to attend. Since then, I've spent my time, both in-person and on Instagram, answering the questions of pre-dental students and providing them with the tools they need to become a high-quality applicant - the student that admissions committees are looking for!

As a current dental student at The Ohio State University, I have been through the rigorous path of dental school applications. Applying during the mess of COVID I received interviews and acceptances from all of the schools I had applied at ultimately putting me at The Ohio State University. Starting on the journey without any prior family or friends in dental school I had to learn how to do it all and this forced me to find mentors and students along the way.. with getting assistance from so many others I would love to be that source for someone else.

As an undergraduate student, I was rejected from 20+ dental schools because I lacked guidance on the application process. However, with an unwavering desire to become a dentist, I pursued a Master’s in Dental Sciences. During this time, I seized the opportunity to redeem myself—improving my GPA, building strong connections for personal recommendation letters, enhancing my personal statement and supplemental application writing skills, and gaining more clinical, research, leadership, and volunteering experiences. The second time I applied to dental school, despite my efforts, I received only one interview. However, I successfully navigated the interview and was accepted. In my third year of dental school, I decided to specialize in periodontology. When applying for residency, I applied to only three programs, interviewed at all three, ranked only my top choice—and still matched! I share my story because I want to show you that it is possible to go from being a 3.2 GPA international (Canadian) student with zero extracurricular experiences to confidently matching into my top-choice specialty residency program (with a <1.5% match rate). I've faced the same obstacles that many of you will encounter, and I’ve learned how to overcome them. With the momentum I've built through my pre-doctoral school experience, I've also understand what it takes to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a competitive standing for residency applications. Over the years, I’ve helped dozens of students with dental school and residency applications and interviews. As a Harvard-educated dentist and former member of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine admissions committee, I have a deep, first-hand understanding of what it takes to be selected by the world’s most competitive dental school. I have evaluated tens of applications and understand not only the academic standards, but also the less visible qualities - intellectual curiosity, leadership, maturity, and purpose - that truly distinguish successful candidates. As an international applicant myself, I personally navigated the unique challenges of the global admissions process, from credential evaluation to positioning one’s experiences within a U.S. academic framework. I have since guided other international and domestic applicants through this same rigorous pathway, helping them present compelling, authentic applications that resonate with elite admissions committees. My insight comes from both sides of the table: as an applicant who succeeded and as an evaluator entrusted with selecting the next generation of dental leaders.

Welcome to my profile! With over 30 years of experience in higher education, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process. As the former Assistant Dean for Prehealth Advising at Fordham University and the Columbia University School of General Studies, I have guided countless students on their journey to dental school. In fact, I have personally coached thousands of individuals, helping them craft compelling personal statements, navigate the application process, and excel in interviews. My expertise extends beyond the application itself—I can also provide valuable insights on building a well-rounded profile, securing strong letters of recommendation, and preparing for the rigorous coursework ahead. During my 3rd and 4th years of college, COVID-19 years, I engaged in countless hours of shadowing, service, and studying for the DAT. Additionally, my wife and I were lucky to have a child born two months before finals in the second to last semester of our undergraduate studies. With my wife’s support, I was able to surpass my goal on the DAT and we both graduated from BYU-Provo within 4 years of starting. I applied to 12 dental schools, interviewed at six, and was accepted and offered a position at all six schools beginning in the fall of 2022. I am currently a first-year dental student attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry. I have founded a Public Health Club and am a member of the Pediatrics and Business clubs among participating in a handful of others. Additionally, I am currently working on becoming an AHEC Scholar and am working to figure out a schedule to graduate with a dual degree MPH/DDS with the Dean of my school.

Entering dental school at the age of 29 - after already going through medical school, two Master's programs, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering - I am driven to help guide those who are striving for a career in dentistry at any level. Serving in various leadership roles at my dental school and within state and national dental associations, I feel equipped to help prospective students prepare for and select the best dental program for them.

I have worked in the mentorship space since college. I still advise students on how to get into their top undergraduate programs - specifically those that are international students. The application process for international students is much more difficult in both undergrad and professional school. To make matters worse, there is not much information available to students to navigate this complicated journey. This is where I come in. I can speak from personal experience and aid students - international or not - on how to navigate a difficult admissions process to get into the school you want to get into.

As a current Harvard DMD candidate and private tutor, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process and what it takes to succeed. For those curious about my application cycle: I applied to 11 schools, received interview invites to 10 schools, interviewed at 8 programs, and was accepted to 6 programs--including Harvard (where I now attend), UCLA (as an out-of-state applicant) with a Dean's scholarship, and UT Health Houston (as an out-of-state applicant) with their "Glenn T. Housholder Competetive Scholarship", which meant I would receive in-state tuition in addition to the scholarship money they were offering me.
