Bryan is an amazing mentor and individual to work with! He is incredibly talented at helping you tailor your career plan to your personal interests and values, and always offers an optimistic attitude while being realistic and informative about the process that needs to happen. He is also well connected with the academic and professional community, which he leverages when helping young professionals seek opportunities. When I first joined UCI's Master of Data Science program, which is an industry-focused professional program, I quickly realized I was more interested in academia and preferred the healthcare space over tech. I was worried MDS may no-longer align with my career goals, but Bryan connected me with an esteemed professor who conducted data-driven pharmaceutical research at his lab at UCI. Dueling gaining knowledge at MDS while applying my skills at this research lab helped me gain the experiences I needed to pursue my career path of choice, and I now continue doing data-driven pharmaceutical research at UCSF as a career, at one of the top schools of pharmacy in the country. Bryan is also very accepting and supportive of more unconventional career paths, and even helped me develop a plan on how to develop my skills and market myself should I want to pursue being a freelance data visualization expert. Bryan is skilled at not only showing students how to leverage their academics, work experiences, and projects, but he also understands how to help students market themselves as professionals by leaning into their other strengths, such as their personalities, personal stories, values, and niches. All around, Bryan is the perfect coach to become a well rounded professional, both in developing hard skills and in finding your brand to market yourself. Working with him has significantly improved my confidence in myself as a professional, and I highly recommend him to anyone seeking empowering guidance

Bryan was not only the Director of my Master of Data Science program at UCI but also one of the most impactful mentors I’ve had. As a program ambassador, I had the chance to work closely with him and witness firsthand his dedication to student success. Bryan goes far beyond administrative responsibilities. He invests in people. His advice has been consistently strategic, empathetic, and actionable, guiding me through key academic and career decisions. Bryan has a rare ability to see both potential and path in every student he works with, and I’m truly grateful for his support. Any aspiring student or professional would be lucky to have him as a coach.

A very intelligent and patient young man!

I met Jared 6 years ago at the start of his college career and have seen him consistently since. He’s experienced in the finance department on paper, but his resume is lacking. That’s all it tells you—finance. What you don’t know about Jared—what his resume or even a few rounds of interviews won’t tell you—is that, over time, even with people who may be hard to approach at first, he is not only kind, but he is patient—truly. Regardless of context, he will find a way to get the job done without ever sacrificing anyone’s feelings or wellbeing. He will make an excellent tutor here just as he has elsewhere

I have known Grant extremely well for quite a few years now. It has been really inspiring to me to see all the ways he has grown throughout the time that I’ve known him. Despite all the growth I’ve seen in him, I’ve seen 3 core qualities which have stayed constant that I would like to point out. These core qualities provided the base of Grant’s Character and been the foundation that he has supported the growth he has displayed. Firstly, he is extremely intelligent, if he doesn’t know something yet, he isn’t scared to dive in head first and truly learn the concept. I am always impressed by the amount of thought he puts into everything he does. He is an effective communicator and he makes technical concepts easy to understand, which personally I believe to be a huge sign of intelligence. Second, is his willingness to work hard. He has a “leave it all on the table” personality. If he has a task or goal, he will outwork anyone and everyone to accomplish that goal. He likes to be prepared coming into things and he will always prepare in an optimal and effective fashion. The amount of hours Grant has put into things that maybe seemed like small details, has paid ten fold in the output they provide. If there’s one huge factor I would bet on Grant for, it would be his willingness to put in the work. He impresses me time and time again because of his desire to give every project his all. Lastly, Grant is a thoughtful individual. Grant pays attention to the tiny details while maintaining the vision of the bigger picture. He does a great job at spending his time where it is most beneficially spent and often is thinking about where his time would best be spent in the future. I can absolutely vouch for Grants Character, as an individual, as a peer, as a friend, and as a hard-worker. If I had a team, Grant would easily be one of my first choices. I have the utmost respect for him because he exemplifies everything you would want to see out of a young prospect to help you accomplish tasks and achieve goals. He is strategic, intelligent, an effective communicator, and he not only pays attention to the big picture, but also puts effort into the details to deliver final products/services that are A+ quality. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with Grant, bet on him. He will work past any shortcomings and come out the other side undiscouraged and ready for more.
