Dr. Alex has been an influential, experienced, and thoughtful mentor. During my high school internship at MITRE in 2022, I had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Alex on a bioengineering task that went beyond my prior experience. Throughout my internship, he was consistently a source of knowledge, with immense patience to explain and break down difficult scientific topics into easier examples and terms to understand. Dr. Alex was always open to assist or help in any way possible and has without a doubt made me a stronger scientist and an engineer who is not afraid to ask questions.

Alex went above and beyond to align my project with my interests, making sure I gained hands-on experience with Al in a biological context. Alex's mentorship extended beyond the internship itself. When I applied to continue at Stanford in a Master's degree program, Alex's guidance was instrumental-especially in crafting a compelling personal statement. I can say with full confidence that Alex's mentorship played a key role in my acceptance.

Dr. Alex was my mentor during my first summer research experience at the Army Research Laboratory. His ability to explain complex engineering concepts, promote independent thinking, and provide constructive guidance greatly contributed to my growth as a researcher over the 10-week program. Under his mentorship, I gained valuable technical skills, strengthened my understanding of engineering principles, learned to understand and interpret scientific articles, and co-authored my first published manuscript. Dr. Alex is a dedicated mentor who encourages and invests in the success and development of his students. I believe Dr. Alex's guidance will be beneficial to any aspiring engineer or researcher.

I’m so glad I had the chance to work with Elijah. From the very beginning, he was incredibly supportive and made the secondary essay process so much smoother.
