About Sasha

I’m Sasha Franklyn—a Harvard-trained biologist turned Columbia Law graduate and former Big Law attorney—with 20+ years of professional experience across law, education, and global leadership. I’ve worked with organizations including Google (U.S. and Japan), Amazon, Daimler, Carrefour, Biomérieux, IBM, Philip Morris, Crédit Agricole, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), helping leaders and teams navigate complex decisions with clarity and purpose. Before law, I studied biology and conducted research at the World Health Organization and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, earning a National Cancer Institute Postdoctoral Fellowship as an undergraduate. That scientific foundation trained my curiosity—the kind that sees patterns, asks deeper questions, and looks for systems beneath symptoms. I bring that same analytical and creative lens to coaching. At Columbia Law (also admitted to Harvard and Stanford), I landed my 1L summer position in the Paris office of Jones Day by thinking differently and advocating for myself long before recruiting season. That experience opened the door to my 2L summer in New York and ultimately to my full-time position upon graduation. Since then, I’ve coached candidates through every stage of the legal journey: from law school admissions and personal statements to 1L/2L recruiting, appellate and federal clerkships, DOJ roles, and Big Law transitions. I also support those pursuing nontraditional paths to law and those transitioning out of practice, having made that transition myself and understanding the unique mix of challenge and possibility it brings. Beyond law, I’ve designed global education and leadership programs reaching over a million learners—including collaborations with BTS through HYBE Edu—using storytelling and reflection to help people learn, lead, and belong with purpose. I carry a restless curiosity—the kind that asks how Stephen Covey’s view of human potential fits with the Second Law of Thermodynamics. That mix of science, strategy, and soul fuels my work as an ecosystems-focused coach—supporting clients in navigating immediate challenges while uncovering the deeper cultural, social, and structural patterns that shape their growth. This dual focus future-proofs success and helps break cycles so the next generation can thrive. As a first-gen, multicultural professional, I know the lived experience of being “first” in the room—first to choose a different path, first to balance two worlds without losing either. My coaching is rooted in that reality, and in the belief that you can honor your family and still come first. Outside of coaching, I enjoy writing dystopian and silkpunk fantasy novels, exploring questions of identity and belonging through story. I also play the violin and the gayageum, a traditional Korean string instrument, and I love hiking and traveling to Korea, where I can reconnect with my heritage and spend time on mountain trails that remind me how growth and stillness coexist.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I believe that clarity is power and that when people understand what truly drives them, they stop chasing paths and start creating them. Across law, education, and leadership, I’ve seen how easily talented people lose their voice inside systems that reward conformity over curiosity. My joy in coaching comes from helping clients pause, reflect, and make conscious decisions about the life and career they want to build—not the one they were told to follow. Whether someone is navigating law school, shifting industries, or redefining success altogether, my work focuses on three pillars: clarity, confidence, and coherence. Together, we uncover what matters most, translate that into strategy, and design next steps that feel both purposeful and sustainable. My scientific and legal training taught me to analyze complexity; coaching lets me humanize it. I guide clients to see patterns, question assumptions, and make decisions that align with their values instead of fear or pressure. At its core, coaching for me is more than quick wins—it’s about building clarity that compounds, confidence that lasts, and growth that holds steady when life changes course.
