Discover your authentic leadership strengths using the StandOut assessment — developed by Marcus Buckingham, co-creator of Gallup's StrengthsFinder and global authority on strengths-based performance. With over 25 million people worldwide having taken assessments created by Buckingham, StandOut represents decades of psychological research into what makes top performers stand out. This 60-minute 1:1 session analyzes your StandOut profile to identify the leadership examples and positioning strategy that will differentiate you from other MBA applicants. Most MBA essays sound generic because applicants manufacture what they think admissions committees want to hear. This debrief helps you mine your actual strengths for genuine stories that showcase who you are as a leader — not who you think you should be.

This package combines asynchronous preparation with live, personalized coaching. Before our session, you'll complete the complimentary StandOut assessment (15-20 minutes) at your convenience and receive your automated profile report. We'll then meet for a focused 60-minute live video session where I analyze your results through an MBA admissions lens, identify the most compelling leadership examples from your background, and develop your positioning strategy. My coaching style is direct, strategic, and deeply personalized—I ask probing questions to surface the stories that admissions committees need to hear and help you understand not just what your strengths are, but how to translate them into application gold. You'll leave the session with concrete next steps and clarity on how to differentiate yourself authentically. All sessions are conducted via videoconference with screen sharing so we can review your StandOut profile together in real-time.
The StandOut assessment must be completed at least 24 hours before your scheduled session. The assessment takes 15-20 minutes and you'll receive the link upon booking. If you arrive at the session without having completed the assessment, you'll need to complete it during our 60-minute session time, which will significantly reduce the time available for personalized debrief and strategy development. No rescheduling will be granted for failure to complete the assessment in advance. Sessions are conducted via Leland video.
