About Darla
I started my education at a community college because I wasn't sure I was smart enough to go to a four-year university like BYU. After I received my associates degree, I got a full-time job and thought my college career was over. Fortunately, mentors were placed in my path who encouraged me and helped me see myself in a new light. With their guidance, I applied to BYU as a transfer student. My mentors not only cheered me on but also helped me navigate the application process including giving me ideas for and feedback on my essays. I was admitted to BYU and graduated. I never would have achieved the dream of being a BYU alum without the help of my mentors and now I am passionate about doing the same thing for other applicants. I spent 10 years working as a professional editor for a consulting firm and helped my first child navigate the BYU application process. For the past eight years I have combined my editing experience with my knowledge of the BYU application and helped 15+ applicants with their BYU application with a focus on editing and offering feedback on the BYU essays. I have a unique ability to help an applicant go beyond the surface writing the same things everyone else writes to sharing a clear story that highlights the experiences that are uniquely theirs.
