Carmen’s MBA Qualifications
My qualifications here come from sitting on both sides of the MBA experience. I earned my own MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, starting the program in person and finishing online in 2015, when online graduate education was still relatively new. Combined with my other graduate degrees at Northwestern Medill, Harvard, and UIC, I have a real feel for how different learning formats work and what admissions committees across top programs tend to value. I scored well on the GMAT, I understand how applications are actually read, and over the years, I have written dozens of letters of recommendation for applicants. Nearly every one of them has landed at a top program, including schools like Harvard and Columbia. What I bring that many admissions coaches do not is practical business experience. I have founded multiple successful companies, including RevEng Consulting, and have spent more than 20 years in the business world at companies like SAP and LinkedIn. That lets me help applicants move past generic, theoretical essays and build specific, credible stories that resonate with admissions committees. RevEng also regularly hosts MBA interns, most recently a group from the University of Michigan in 2025, so I stay close to what current programs teach and how students are evaluated.

About Carmen
I am a founding partner at RevEng Consulting, a boutique firm advising companies on sales compensation, revenue operations, and go-to-market strategy. Before starting RevEng in 2017, I spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles at LinkedIn and SAP, where I hired, scaled, and led revenue teams across industries and continents. My academic path reflects a similar mix of breadth and depth, with degrees and graduate work at Northwestern Medill, Harvard, Indiana University Kelley, and the University of Illinois Chicago. I work best with leaders, founders, and rising professionals who want sharper thinking about their careers, their compensation, or their next big move. When I am not with clients, you will usually find me walking six or seven miles a day around Elmhurst with my two dogs, Daisy and Winston, following the Cubs through every kind of season, or chasing down a Serie A match.
Why do I coach?
I found myself in situations where I was informally coaching for years before Leland gave it a name. Someone would email asking how to price a first consulting engagement, or how to read a sales comp plan, or whether a particular VP job was actually worth taking. I would spend half an hour on the phone, they would get unstuck, and we would both move on. What I can offer is two decades of experience in inside sales compensation, revenue operations, and go-to-market strategy at places like SAP and LinkedIn, and now nine years running my own firm. A real view into how hiring and comp decisions get made on the other side of the table. And no stake in which way you go, which is usually the piece that people cannot get from anyone already in their life.
