Carmen’s Business Operations & Strategy Qualifications
Experience level: Executive
I have spent more than 15 years building, scaling, and operating revenue-generating businesses, first within Fortune 100 enterprises and now as the founder of my own firm. As Global VP of Sales Incentive Compensation Strategy at SAP, I designed and ran comp programs for one of the largest software sales forces in the world. At LinkedIn, I led GTM strategy and revenue operations for the media line of business through a period of significant growth and the Microsoft acquisition. Earlier in my career, I was a Senior Consultant at the Alexander Group, where I learned the operator playbook from the inside by working across dozens of companies at once. Since founding RevEng Consulting in 2017, I have helped clients ranging from Fortune 100 enterprises to growth-stage software firms redesign how they go to market, pay their sellers, and operate their revenue engines. What I bring to coaching in this category is a rare combination of three things. First, deep functional expertise across sales compensation, revenue operations, and go-to-market strategy, backed by graduate degrees from Indiana Kelley, Harvard, Northwestern Medill, and UIC. Second, real operating experience as a founder who has scaled multiple businesses from zero to multimillion-dollar revenue, including RevEng itself and Banks Valuation. Third, a built-out body of content, including proprietary frameworks like our Growth Excellence Model and a full sales compensation growth model curriculum, that I use to teach these concepts in a structured, practical way. Whether you are trying to break into a revenue operations role, build your first comp plan, design a new GTM motion, or scale your own business, I can bring patterns from hundreds of real engagements rather than theory from a textbook.

About Carmen
I am a founding partner at RevEng Consulting, a boutique firm advising companies on sales compensation, revenue operations, and go-to-market strategy. Before starting RevEng in 2017, I spent more than a decade in senior leadership roles at LinkedIn and SAP, where I hired, scaled, and led revenue teams across industries and continents. My academic path reflects a similar mix of breadth and depth, with degrees and graduate work at Northwestern Medill, Harvard, Indiana University Kelley, and the University of Illinois Chicago. I work best with leaders, founders, and rising professionals who want sharper thinking about their careers, their compensation, or their next big move. When I am not with clients, you will usually find me walking six or seven miles a day around Elmhurst with my two dogs, Daisy and Winston, following the Cubs through every kind of season, or chasing down a Serie A match.
Why do I coach?
I found myself in situations where I was informally coaching for years before Leland gave it a name. Someone would email asking how to price a first consulting engagement, or how to read a sales comp plan, or whether a particular VP job was actually worth taking. I would spend half an hour on the phone, they would get unstuck, and we would both move on. What I can offer is two decades of experience in inside sales compensation, revenue operations, and go-to-market strategy at places like SAP and LinkedIn, and now nine years running my own firm. A real view into how hiring and comp decisions get made on the other side of the table. And no stake in which way you go, which is usually the piece that people cannot get from anyone already in their life.
