Hi, I’m Dr. Erica—a writing coach, Fulbright Scholar, and former college professor. As a current 2L at NYU Law and former admitted student to top law schools including Harvard Law, Columbia Law, Penn Carey Law, Duke Law, and other peer schools (all with scholarships), I have significant insight into what top law schools are looking for in applicants. Experienced in coaching and new to Leland, I have helped guide multiple students through the law school application process, specifically aiding them in crafting compelling personal statements, creating a narrative throughout their resumes, prepping for interviews, deciding on which schools to apply to, and developing a strategy for scholarship negotiation. I am a JD / MBA student at Harvard Law School and Harvard Business School. I have 5 years of professional experience in finance.

During my time at UCLA School of Law, I have earned several honors, including the UCLA Law Faculty Scholarship, the Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarship, the Erika J. Glazer Scholarship, the Greenberg Glusker Book Scholarship, the Kingdom Day Parade Scholarship, and the Langston Bar Association Scholarship (awarded twice). I was also selected for the 2024 Foundation for Advocacy, Inclusion & Resources (FAIR) Employee Justice Summer Clerkship and the 2024 Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles Scholarship. My activities reflect my leadership and dedication to the legal community. I have served as a Student Liaison for the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Barristers/Young Attorneys, and held various leadership roles in the Black Law Students Association, including 1L Representative and Co-Chair. I have also been involved in the Critical Race Studies Specialization as an Erika Glazer Scholar, worked with the Labor and Economic Justice Clinic, and served as the Langston Bar Association’s Student Liaison and Law Student Outreach Committee Chair. As a member of the National Black Law Journal, I have contributed as both Outreach Editor and Chief Managing Editor. Additionally, I served as the 1L President of the Student Bar Association (SBA) and later as SBA Diversity Officer. My involvement extends to mentoring in the UCLA Law Fellows Program, serving as a Staff Member and Chief Diversity Editor on the UCLA Law Review, and working as a Tour Guide and Student Ambassador for the law school. I also participated in the Workers’ Rights Clinic and the UCLA Trial Team, where we were regional champions in the BLSA Constance Baker Motley Trial Competition. Furthermore, I have been active in the Entertainment Law Association as Events Chair and the Fashion and Beauty Law Association as Secretary of Communications.

As a triple admit to top MBA, JD, and Public Policy programs, I bring a wealth of experience surrounding joint degree program admissions including identifying best-fit programs for career growth, crafting a compelling narrative to fit your target institution, and ensuring GMAT and LSAT scores meet institutional requirements. Prior to graduate school, I spent 3 years at the Boston Consulting Group, and have supported multiple consultants in their application efforts to both MBA programs and JD programs. I also have a diverse set of experiences in the non-profit and advocacy space, with experience supporting 'non-traditional' candidate applications. There's so much information on what a law school applicant should do, it can feel overwhelming. My goal has always been to provide superior information targeted to each student's unique circumstances. No questions are off limits, I make the path simple, comfortable and understanding. We can tackle anything or everything – from the minutiae of getting your recs/transcripts to LSAC to crafting your personal statements. Perhaps the best definition I’ve heard of a law school personal statement is that it’s a chance to tell your story. My goal is to capture a side of you that no one can deny is uniquely you. Law school trains you to be an attorney. But every student, every lawyer, is first and foremost a person – with a story. Your story informs your judgment. As an attorney, you hold tremendous power in society. Showing an admissions committee who you are through your story demonstrates how you’ll use that power responsibly. Our purpose is to tell your story. I believe every person has greatness inside of them and our goal is to show your greatness through your story.

Brian brings over ten years of experience in admissions to world-renowned universities in the US and UK. His specialties are top-ranked colleges and elite graduate programs in law, business, public policy, finance, and economics. He has guided clients into schools like Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, UChicago, Upenn, Columbia, Yale, London School of Economics, King's College London, Duke, Cornell, Georgetown, USC, and Johns Hopkins. Brian was personally admitted to multiple Ivy League law schools before choosing to pursue a JD at UC Berkeley. He also holds a master of social science from UCLA. His research interests include Bitcoin, green finance, and civil liberties.
