As a recent Stanford Law School graduate and Knight-Hennessy Scholar, I bring a wealth of experience and insight into the law school admissions process. I have successfully coached over a dozen aspiring law students, helping them navigate the complexities of applications and secure spots at top law schools. I've continued to work with many of my admittees as they enter law school, select courses, apply for internships, navigate the job search, and secure federal clerkships. Let's connect! What's the process like? I like to do a 15-30 minute meeting up front to understand your background, goals, and priorities. We identify tasks to accomplish and set deadlines for each, taking a step-by-step approach that feels manageable. Clients can send written drafts anytime, and I provide written feedback within 48 hours. I'm always available to answer pop-up questions and support. We schedule follow-up meetings as needed.

I grew up in South Tucson, Arizona, and I’m now a JD/PhD candidate at Yale Law School and the University of Oxford. For over ten years, I’ve helped students from first-gen, low-income, and immigrant backgrounds gain admission to top law schools and receive the most prestigious scholarships by turning their life stories into clear, compelling application narratives. As a Truman Scholar, Marshall Scholar, and Skadden Fellow, I’ve been through the fellowship and admissions process at the highest levels. I know how intimidating this process can feel, especially if you don’t come from a background where people “know how this works.” I’m here to help guide you through the admissions process and put forward the strongest version of your story.

Daniel Khalessi served as President of the Stanford Law Review and is a startup and venture capital lawyer at Sidley Austin LLP in San Francisco. He is passionate about helping others turn their personal experiences into powerful stories and achieve their dreams. Having lost his Dad at a young age, Daniel understands what it is like to overcome challenges. A product of Bay Area public schools, Daniel earned a B.A. from Stanford, M.A. in Global Affairs from Yale, M.A. in Economics (China Studies) from Peking University, and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, where he served as a Teaching Assistant in constitutional law and earned prizes for outstanding performance. He previously worked as a startup lawyer at Latham & Watkins LLP and as a China analyst at Harvard's Belfer Center.

I was admitted to Stanford Law School during one of their most competitive admissions cycles (2021). I can speak to law school admissions, as well as the unique challenges of being a JD-PhD applicant. I've coached dozens of students successfully through law school admissions, and I can coach you too!

Law school admissions is the hardest it's ever been. Schools are not only looking for brilliant students, but they're also looking for people who have a clear passion for the law stemming from their life story. They want to be able to picture you succeeding at their campus and then in an impressive career for decades to come. I think the hardest part about applications as competitive as these is figuring out your story and finding the most compelling way to communicate it. I'm eager to help you do just that.

During my time at UCLA School of Law, I have earned several honors, including the UCLA Law Faculty Scholarship, the Adam Z. Rice Memorial Scholarship, the Erika J. Glazer Scholarship, the Greenberg Glusker Book Scholarship, the Kingdom Day Parade Scholarship, and the Langston Bar Association Scholarship (awarded twice). I was also selected for the 2024 Foundation for Advocacy, Inclusion & Resources (FAIR) Employee Justice Summer Clerkship and the 2024 Black Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles Scholarship. My activities reflect my leadership and dedication to the legal community. I have served as a Student Liaison for the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Barristers/Young Attorneys, and held various leadership roles in the Black Law Students Association, including 1L Representative and Co-Chair. I have also been involved in the Critical Race Studies Specialization as an Erika Glazer Scholar, worked with the Labor and Economic Justice Clinic, and served as the Langston Bar Association’s Student Liaison and Law Student Outreach Committee Chair. As a member of the National Black Law Journal, I have contributed as both Outreach Editor and Chief Managing Editor. Additionally, I served as the 1L President of the Student Bar Association (SBA) and later as SBA Diversity Officer. My involvement extends to mentoring in the UCLA Law Fellows Program, serving as a Staff Member and Chief Diversity Editor on the UCLA Law Review, and working as a Tour Guide and Student Ambassador for the law school. I also participated in the Workers’ Rights Clinic and the UCLA Trial Team, where we were regional champions in the BLSA Constance Baker Motley Trial Competition. Furthermore, I have been active in the Entertainment Law Association as Events Chair and the Fashion and Beauty Law Association as Secretary of Communications.

There's so much information on what a law school applicant should do, it can feel overwhelming. My goal has always been to provide superior information targeted to each student's unique circumstances. No questions are off limits, I make the path simple, comfortable and understanding. We can tackle anything or everything – from the minutiae of getting your recs/transcripts to LSAC to crafting your personal statements. Perhaps the best definition I’ve heard of a law school personal statement is that it’s a chance to tell your story. My goal is to capture a side of you that no one can deny is uniquely you. Law school trains you to be an attorney. But every student, every lawyer, is first and foremost a person – with a story. Your story informs your judgment. As an attorney, you hold tremendous power in society. Showing an admissions committee who you are through your story demonstrates how you’ll use that power responsibly. Our purpose is to tell your story. I believe every person has greatness inside of them and our goal is to show your greatness through your story.

Brian brings over ten years of experience in admissions to world-renowned universities in the US and UK. His specialties are top-ranked colleges and elite graduate programs in law, business, public policy, finance, and economics. He has guided clients into schools like Harvard, Stanford, Berkeley, UChicago, Upenn, Columbia, Yale, London School of Economics, King's College London, Duke, Cornell, Georgetown, USC, and Johns Hopkins. Brian was personally admitted to multiple Ivy League law schools before choosing to pursue a JD at UC Berkeley. He also holds a master of social science from UCLA. His research interests include Bitcoin, green finance, and civil liberties.
