During my 3rd and 4th years of college, COVID-19 years, I engaged in countless hours of shadowing, service, and studying for the DAT. Additionally, my wife and I were lucky to have a child born two months before finals in the second to last semester of our undergraduate studies. With my wife’s support, I was able to surpass my goal on the DAT and we both graduated from BYU-Provo within 4 years of starting. I applied to 12 dental schools, interviewed at six, and was accepted and offered a position at all six schools beginning in the fall of 2022. I am currently a first-year dental student attending the University of Utah School of Dentistry. I have founded a Public Health Club and am a member of the Pediatrics and Business clubs among participating in a handful of others. Additionally, I am currently working on becoming an AHEC Scholar and am working to figure out a schedule to graduate with a dual degree MPH/DDS with the Dean of my school.

I am a current dental student at Roseman University - Utah. Before dental school, I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Biology and minor in Public Health, earning Magna Cum Laude Honors. I also began pursuing a Master of Public Health with a Dental Emphasis from A.T. Still University. I have been tutoring for over five years, helping high school and college students in subjects including Chemistry, Biology, Math, College Algebra, and English. My teaching style brings a patient and thorough approach to make the learning experience understandable and enjoyable! As someone who recently went through the dental school application process myself, I understand the challenges that come with this journey. I want to utilize the skills and knowledge I gained to support pre-dental students and help them get admitted to their top-choice for dental school! I coach because I want to make the dental school application process as comfortable as possible for pre-dental students. I understand the challenges of being a student - juggling between coursework, studying for the DAT, engaging in extracurriculars, and needing to be a well-rounded student, all while preparing dental school applications. When I went through this process, having mentors guide me along the way helped me gain the confidence I needed to succeed. I want to coach other students to pass on the knowledge I gained from my own journey to support those who are in the position that I was once in. Being a coach allows me to combine previous tutoring experiences with my passion of helping students in need. I strive to provide a broadened educational experience to my students, which is geared towards allowing pre-dental students to achieve their goals. Seeing students grow in their respective journeys is the most rewarding part of what I do.

Entering dental school at the age of 29 - after already going through medical school, two Master's programs, and a PhD in Biomedical Engineering - I am driven to help guide those who are striving for a career in dentistry at any level. Serving in various leadership roles at my dental school and within state and national dental associations, I feel equipped to help prospective students prepare for and select the best dental program for them.

As a current dental student at The Ohio State University, I have been through the rigorous path of dental school applications. Applying during the mess of COVID I received interviews and acceptances from all of the schools I had applied at ultimately putting me at The Ohio State University. Starting on the journey without any prior family or friends in dental school I had to learn how to do it all and this forced me to find mentors and students along the way.. with getting assistance from so many others I would love to be that source for someone else.

As a current Harvard DMD candidate and private tutor, I have a deep understanding of the dental school admissions process and what it takes to succeed. My experience as an admissions counselor and tutor at College Choice Counseling and DAT Bootcamp has allowed me to help students excel in all areas of the Dental Admission Test (DAT), build strong school lists, plan resume-building activities, craft a personal statement, nail their interviews, and everything in between. I have helped dozens of students accomplish their dreams and I can help you reach yours too! For those curious about my application cycle: I applied to 11 schools, received interview invites to 10 schools, interviewed at 8 programs, and was accepted to 6 programs--including Harvard (where I now attend), UCLA (as an out-of-state applicant) with a Dean's scholarship, and UT Health Houston (as an out-of-state applicant) with their "Glenn T. Housholder Competetive Scholarship", which meant I would receive in-state tuition in addition to the scholarship money they were offering me.

As an undergraduate student, I was rejected from 20+ dental schools because I lacked guidance on the application process. However, with an unwavering desire to become a dentist, I pursued a Master’s in Dental Sciences. During this time, I seized the opportunity to redeem myself—improving my GPA, building strong connections for personal recommendation letters, enhancing my personal statement and supplemental application writing skills, and gaining more clinical, research, leadership, and volunteering experiences. The second time I applied to dental school, despite my efforts, I received only one interview. However, I successfully navigated the interview and was accepted. In my third year of dental school, I decided to specialize in periodontology. When applying for residency, I applied to only three programs, interviewed at all three, ranked only my top choice—and still matched! I share my story because I want to show you that it is possible to go from being a 3.2 GPA international (Canadian) student with zero extracurricular experiences to confidently matching into my top-choice specialty residency program (with a <1.5% match rate). I've faced the same obstacles that many of you will encounter, and I’ve learned how to overcome them. With the momentum I've built through my pre-doctoral school experience, I've also understand what it takes to stay ahead of the curve and maintain a competitive standing for residency applications. Over the years, I’ve helped dozens of students with dental school and residency applications and interviews. I have worked in the mentorship space since college. I still advise students on how to get into their top undergraduate programs - specifically those that are international students. The application process for international students is much more difficult in both undergrad and professional school. To make matters worse, there is not much information available to students to navigate this complicated journey. This is where I come in.
