This session is designed to help applicants strategically approach and brainstorm challenging secondary essay prompts commonly used by medical schools. Rather than editing individual essays, the focus is on developing clear frameworks for answering high-impact prompts in a way that is authentic, school-specific, and aligned with admissions priorities. We work through difficult prompt types such as diversity, adversity, challenge, failure, “why this school,” gap years, reapplication explanations, and ethical or values-based questions. Emphasis is placed on identifying the right stories, avoiding common traps, and ensuring responses reinforce a cohesive application narrative rather than repeating the personal statement. The session concludes with structured outlines and positioning strategies that can be reused across multiple schools. Format: 60-minute 1:1 strategy session Best for: Applicants overwhelmed by secondaries, unsure how to answer difficult prompts, or seeking to improve efficiency without sacrificing quality.
