I began my career in Investment Banking at Solomon Partners and graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. At Solomon, I was actively involved in recruiting — interviewing and screening 50+ candidates — and developed a strong sense of what top firms are really looking for. I’ve since gone through the on-cycle private equity process myself and know how tough and opaque it can feel, especially without the right guidance. About Ricky
Hi! My name is Ricky Yoo, and I'm currently a Private Equity Associate at Abry Partners based in Boston, having worked in Investment Banking at Solomon Partners for two years, and graduated from the University of Michigan. Outside of work, I love to cook (hosted 20+ dinner parties this year), solo-travel (30+ cities across South America and Europe), and run (amateur, but committed). Whether you’re breaking into finance or just trying to figure out your next step, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and momentum.
Why do I coach?
Coming from an immigrant family with no traditional path into finance, I had to figure things out the hard way—spending countless hours researching, prepping, and reaching out to mentors to navigate the recruiting process. That journey led me to Investment Banking at Solomon Partners and eventually to my current role in Private Equity at Abry Partners, after successfully navigating the on-cycle recruiting process. Along the way, I’ve reviewed 100+ resumes and interviewed candidates across various roles, giving me a clear sense of what it actually takes to break into IB and PE. I know how confusing and opaque the process can feel—and how hard it is to find reliable, honest guidance. My goal is to demystify the process, share actionable strategies and resources, and serve as a thought partner to help you break into IB and PE.
