Mariana’s Management Consulting Qualifications
Experience level: Case Team Leader
I've been heavily involved in consulting recruiting throughout my career and have seen the process from nearly every angle. As a Consultant at Boston Consulting Group (and previously at Deloitte), I've navigated both undergraduate and experienced-hire recruiting myself, participated in recruiting leadership roles, conducted hundreds of coffee chats, led countless mock interviews, and interviewed candidates as part of actual hiring decisions. At BCG, I help identify, evaluate, and develop top talent. I've worked closely with candidates from a wide range of backgrounds, including students trying to break into consulting for the first time to experienced professionals looking to make a career transition into MBB. What I've learned is that most candidates don't struggle because they're not smart enough. They struggle because they haven't been taught how consultants actually think, communicate, and solve problems under pressure. My coaching focuses on helping candidates develop those skills through: -Case interview preparation -Behavioral and fit interview coaching -Resume and application reviews -Networking strategy and coffee chat preparation -Recruiting process guidance and offer decision-making I tailor my approach to each candidate rather than forcing everyone into the same framework. Whether you're targeting McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or another top consulting firm, my goal is to help you develop the confidence, structure, and communication skills needed to stand out in a highly competitive process and earn the offer.

About Mariana
Hi, I'm Mariana. I'm an incoming MBA student at Stanford Graduate School of Business (Class of 2028). Professionally, I'm a Consultant at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), specializing in marketing, pricing, revenue management, and growth strategy for travel and hospitality companies. Prior to BCG, I spent 2.5 years at Deloitte Consulting, giving me experience across both MBB and Big Four consulting environments. As an MBA applicant, I was fortunate to earn admission to five M7 business schools. Throughout the process, I developed a clear understanding of what separates good applicants from unforgettable ones: a compelling personal narrative, authentic self-reflection, and a clear connection between past experiences and future ambitions. A bit more about me personally: I immigrated to the United States from Guatemala as a child and earned a Division I golf scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My experiences as a first-generation immigrant, student-athlete, consultant, and mentor have shaped my passion for helping others unlock opportunities that can change the trajectory of their lives. In addition to MBA admissions coaching, I have extensive experience helping candidates break into consulting. At BCG, I serve in recruiting leadership roles and have coached candidates through resume reviews, networking strategies, behavioral interviews, and case interview preparation. I've interviewed undergraduate, MBA, and experienced hire candidates and understand what top consulting firms are looking for at every stage of the process. I can help with: - MBA application strategy and school selection - Personal narrative development - Essay brainstorming and editing - Resume reviews - MBA interview preparation - MBB consulting recruiting strategy - Case interview preparation - Behavioral interview coaching - Networking and recruiting plans My coaching style is supportive, direct, and highly personalized. I'll help you identify what makes your story unique, communicate it with confidence, and avoid sounding like everyone else in the applicant pool. Whether you're applying to business school, recruiting for consulting, or both, I'd love to help you put together the strongest possible application.
Why do I coach?
I grew up in a Spanish-speaking, working-class household navigating systems my parents couldn't always decode. I learned that the difference between an open door and a closed one is often comes down to knowing how the system works. Along the way, I've had a handful of people who believed in me, gave me honest feedback, and refused to let me undersell myself. I coach because I want to be that person for someone else. The MBA process and consulting recruiting can feel opaque, intimidating, and designed for people who already have the inside scoop. My job is to demystify these processes and to help you see what is special about your story, even if it's not yet clear to you.
