Why do I coach?

Dr. Kimberly Flynn has a passion for coaching students in college essay writing. An award-winning English teacher who served in New Jersey’s public schools for twenty-five years, Dr. Flynn has the ability to meet students where they are as individuals and as writers. Her varied experiences in the classroom and in her private practice allow her to successfully find a balance between instructing and fostering independence. She creates a positive rapport and a seamless, collaborative environment with constant support and open communication. With a doctoral degree in writing, she knows how to guide others to recognize and utilize their current talents—as well as develop their abilities in logical organization, meaningful and unique content, proper grammar, and creative voice. These skills will pay dividends in academia beyond the college application process. In three personalized one-hour sessions about a week apart, Kim helps her students brainstorm potential topics and draft, revise, edit, and polish a Common App essay that is sure to impress admissions officers.
