About Joshua
In grade 11, I suffered a serious injury that caused me to miss a large chunk of grade 11 and 12 in order to rehab.. With this happening, I was given 50% in most of my classes to graduate me where I eventually ended up at a local Canadian college to upgrade my grade 11 and 12 marks. Following this, I decided to take a year and a half off to travel and explore the world before going back into university. I got to go to Australia, New Zealand, Guatemala, El Salvador, and all over the US. Eventually, when I did go to university, I settled at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC where my initial intention was to become an Investment Banker. After some personal discovery, I realized that I would thrive in a role that sat at the intersection of being quantitative while also leveraging my extremely strong people skills and made the pivot to consulting where I landed at Accenture Strategy. Over the course of my time with Accenture Strategy, I have been able to work on a wide variety of projects across industries (energy, retail, PE, telecoms, insurance, not-for-profit and banking) as well as functions (innovation, supply chain, organizational design/operating model, cost reduction, growth strategy, acquisition due diligence and change management). After three years in consulting, I have shifted over to become an operator at a stealth mode startup based in San Francisco operating in healthcare. In my current role, I operate as a GM for new states that we are launching and operating in to go-to-market with speed and precision. Outside of work, I have a wide variety of hobbies. Being outside and moving is important to me so I love golfing, biking. playing pickleball, running, snowboarding as well as playing in a variety of team sports. I also love cooking and trying the new recipes I have learned from my world travels. When I want some down time, you can catch me listening to music (jazz, EDM, classical, country and alternative) while reading a good book. I am currently reading Amp It Up by Frank Slootman
Why do I coach?
Coaching for me is two fold. First, I have personally received so much mentorship and coaching from friends, family and mentors that have enabled me to achieve what I have achieved so I want to give back and be a resource for other people. Secondly, I love helping people from less traditional backgrounds reach the pinnacles of their careers by being targeted in how they apply for roles, building genuine, reciprocating relationships and discovering career opportunities that they might not have known about.
