Hi there! I've loved communicating through words and pictures for as long as I can remember, crafting poetry, stories, speeches, essays and even books over years and years. I excelled in Debating and Public Speaking at St Peter's College and Stellenbosch University, eventually returning to my high school to train senior students in Debating from 2015. As an Engagement Manager at Visual Meaning, I worked as a visual specialist, helping clients to make sense of incredibly complex situations and communicate them with ease. I have coached visual communication and storytelling as part of the global Map the System competition, and regularly advise colleagues, clients and friends on wording choices. About JJ
Hi! I'm JJ and I collaborate with people towards their highest purpose. My career has been a long arc starting in work that provided financial security and steadily working towards inspired meaning and purpose. I have been through the lows: depression, burnout, grief, feeling disconnected from the things I cared about and struggling to trust where I was or what to do next. I've also been incredibly privileged: qualifying as a finance professional, obtaining my MBA from the University of Oxford, training as a meditation facilitator, growing a start-up, training as a systems thinker and building my own practice. I will bring professional expertise, global insight and spiritual depth to our conversations, supporting your clarity and purpose.
Why do I coach?
I have had coaches and mentors throughout my life shaping who I am. During my first trip abroad from South Africa to India at the age of 22, I noticed that I kept returning to familiar patterns of thoughts and feelings despite my life in the Himilayan foothills looking nothing like my life back home. I suddenly realised that I was the only common denominator between those two worlds, and that I needed to study not just extenal systems but also my inner landscape to create the changes I was seeking. Now, over a decade later, I help others navigate their personal and professional growth by supporting their inner development and external impact, passing on the gifts I've received from countless others.
