Description
Your law school résumé is more than a list of your education, jobs, and activities. It is one of the primary ways admissions committees will evaluate you, so it should strategically showcase the unique accomplishments and skills that make you a compelling candidate. The challenge is knowing what to include, what to emphasize, and how to present your background in a way that makes your application stronger. Drawing on my experience as a lawyer, career coach, professional résumé writer, and former law school career services advisor, I'll help you identify the experiences and accomplishments that deserve the most attention and transform your existing résumé into a polished, compelling document tailored specifically for law school admissions. This package includes: 1. Comprehensive Résumé Assessment & Background Review (Offline Pre-Session Review) Before we begin, I'll review your current résumé and the other materials, including an intake questionnaire I provide. I'll evaluate what’s already on the page to identify experiences, accomplishments, leadership, service, academic work, and professional achievements, and evaluate other aspects of your background that may strengthen your application. 2. 60-Minute Résumé Strategy & Writing Session We'll meet for a one-hour focused strategy session to discuss your background and determine how your résumé should position you as a law school applicant. We'll identify: - The experiences and accomplishments that should receive the most emphasis - What makes your background distinctive - Information that should be added, clarified, condensed, or removed - How to organize your experiences for maximum impact - How your résumé can complement your personal statement and broader application narrative 3. Offline Résumé Writing & Editing I'll then transform your existing résumé and background information into a polished, law-school-specific résumé. This may include: - Reorganizing sections and content - Rewriting bullets and descriptions - Strengthening accomplishment statements - Clarifying your professional and academic experiences - Identifying and incorporating relevant accomplishments that may currently be missing - Eliminating unnecessary or repetitive information - Improving clarity, concision, consistency, and overall presentation - Ensuring the finished résumé presents a cohesive and compelling picture of your candidacy 4. Final Review & Revision We will meet for an additional 30 to 60 minutes to review your draft résumé and make revisions. We'll address your questions and feedback and make one round of revisions before finalizing the document. You’ll receive a finalized résumé following this session.
