Not sure how to approach your law school application or how to position your particular background? Drawing on my experience as a lawyer, former law school career services advisor, lawyer career coach, and professional résumé writer, I'll partner with you to help you understand how to strategically present your candidacy. Following a pre-session evaluation of your application materials, we'll meet for a focused 90-minute strategy session to take comprehensive look at your background, experiences, and goals, identify the strongest ways to position yourself, and develop a clear strategy for your law school application. This package is ideal if you’re just beginning the application process, feel unsure about how to position your background, or want an experienced professional to help you determine what themes to prioritize in your application. Here's how we'll work together: 1. Application Profile Review: Before our session, I'll send you a questionnaire and request for any relevant materials you might have, such as your résumé, transcript, LSAT score or anticipated score, target schools, personal statement draft or ideas, and other application materials. I’ll then conduct an in-depth pre-session review of materials. 2. Application Strategy & Positioning Session: We'll meet for a 90-minute strategy session to discuss your background, experiences, accomplishments, interests, goals, and concerns about the application process and your candidacy. Together, we'll develop a customized strategy addressing the areas that are most important for your particular application, which may include: - How to position your academic and/or professional background - What experiences and accomplishments to emphasize - How to approach your résumé - Potential themes and topics for your personal statement - Whether an addendum or other explanatory statement may be appropriate - How to address potential weaknesses or gaps in your application - How to create a cohesive narrative across your application materials - What to prioritize as you move forward 3. Personalized Application Action Plan: After our session, I'll provide you with a concise written action plan summarizing my recommendations and your key next steps, so you'll know exactly what to focus on as you build your application. The action plan will include: - An assessment of your strongest application themes and differentiators - Recommendations for addressing potential weaknesses or gaps - Guidance on résumé and personal statement strategy - Prioritized next steps for moving your applications forward Additional details Coaching is delivered through a combination of one live video session and asynchronous communication through Leland. Before our session, you'll receive an intake questionnaire and instructions regarding the materials I'd like you to provide. This package is designed to provide strategic guidance and a clear action plan. It does not include the drafting or substantive editing of a résumé, personal statement, or other application essays. If you'd like hands-on assistance with those materials, I offer separate résumé and personal statement packages.
