Description

Profitability is the most common case type in an MBB interview and the one candidates most often think they handled well when they didn't. Reciting profit = revenue minus cost is not a structure. It's a definition, and every interviewer has heard it. The score comes from the next ninety seconds: where you cut, what data you ask for, and how fast you get to the driver that actually moved. What we work on: (1) Building the tree that fits the business. Price, volume, mix and channel do not decompose the same way for a subscription business and a heavy manufacturer. Picking the wrong branch costs you the case in the first two minutes. (2) Isolating the driver. Segmenting revenue and cost until the problem sits in one box, and knowing which comparison — year over year, versus competitor, versus segment — actually proves it. (3) The math you will be handed. Break-even, contribution margin, price-volume tradeoffs, fixed versus variable. Clean, and out loud. (4) Turning the number into a recommendation. Most candidates find the driver and stop there. The offer comes from what you say after it. (5) Handling the pivot. Interviewers move the goalposts mid-case on purpose. Every rep here is live, timed, and interrupted. I ran these as a McKinsey interviewer. I'll tell you where you actually lost points.

Coaching delivered via live sessions.

Refund Policy

Sessions run 60 minutes: two full profitability cases, or one case plus a focused drill on whatever broke. Every rep is live, timed and interrupted — I interject the way an interviewer does, and I move the goalposts on purpose. Written feedback after each session against the same four dimensions the firms score on: structure, quantitative, judgment, communication. Bring a business you actually want to work in if you have one. If you don't, I'll pull from real client situations. This is reps and correction, not instruction — you should already know the basic case format before we start.
