Annie’s College Qualifications
As an international admit from Vietnam who successfully navigated the highly selective U.S. college admissions process, I secured acceptance to Brown University, where I graduated Magna Cum Laude with dual degrees in Economics and Development Studies, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA. Having personally experienced and overcome the unique challenges faced by international applicants—especially as a woman pursuing data science, AI/ML, and economics—I deeply understand how to craft powerful personal narratives, compelling essays, and strategic positioning essential for admission to top-tier colleges. My extensive mentorship experience at Brown, McKinsey, and through community initiatives equips me to effectively guide students in showcasing their authentic strengths, highlighting their diverse backgrounds, and navigating admissions with confidence and clarity.
Annie also coaches for Management Consulting, MBA, Business Strategy & Operations, Career Development, and GRE. View all.
About Annie
Annie Phan is paving the way for a new generation of data transformation—where AI/ML, analytics, and business operations converge to drive scalable impact across industries. At Fanatics Collectibles, Annie leads product strategy and execution for the company’s largest digital transformation initiative, overseeing the rollout of 20+ in-house AI/ML-enabled applications that are reshaping production processes and unlocking $4B+ in enterprise value. She works cross-functionally with product, engineering, design, and data teams while collaborating closely with the President, CTO, and SVPs to translate business objectives into scalable technology. Previously, Annie was a Business Analyst in McKinsey & Company’s Digital Practice, where she worked with global clients across real estate, healthcare, and consumer sectors. She led a post-M&A IT integration for a Fortune 100 manufacturer, built enterprise-wide data governance frameworks for a real estate investment firm, and identified $250M+ in AI/automation opportunities for leading healthcare providers. Annie also helped shape McKinsey’s core AI and analytics offerings by leading the Advanced Industries Data & Analytics Squad, and drove global go-to-market execution for Rewired, the firm’s flagship digital transformation publication—engaging 5,400+ executives across 55+ countries. At Lavendr, Annie served as Chief Data Officer, where she led the GTM and data strategy for the high-growth startup’s B2B SaaS platform. She built automated acquisition funnels, scaled customer segmentation efforts, and helped grow the customer base and ARR by 10x within the first year. Annie holds a Master’s in Data Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Development Studies from Brown University, where she graduated magna cum laude. She is also a Forbes Business Council member, AI/tech innovation judge, and published thought leader in analytics, data governance, and digital transformation. Annie is also a 2+2 deferred admit for the Harvard Business School MBA program in 2022, planning to attend HBS in 2026 and joining the MBA Class of 2028.
Why do I coach?
When I applied to college from my high school in Vietnam, I didn’t know anyone who had made it to Brown. But I did it anyway—becoming the only Vietnamese student from my high school to be admitted. I went on to earn both my undergraduate and Master’s in Data Science at Brown, graduating magna cum laude. I was again the only Vietnamese student in my cohort. Since then, I’ve built my career across McKinsey, Fanatics, and high-growth startups—leading AI/ML transformations that have unlocked billions in enterprise value. I’m O-1 approved in Data Science and a Harvard MBA deferred admit. But more than any title or award, what’s shaped me most are the mentors who helped me believe I could belong in rooms that weren’t built for people like me. That’s why I coach. Over the years, I’ve helped other Brown students break into MBB, land deferred MBA offers, and navigate elite spaces with clarity and confidence. I’ve coached younger Business Analysts at McKinsey to become top performers. And I bring that same care, structure, and honesty to every coaching session I lead. If you’re preparing for MBB, pivoting into tech or AI, or telling your story for a top-tier MBA, I’m here to help you not just get in—but own your space once you’re there.

Masters of Science, Data Science
2020 - 2021
I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Brown University, graduating magna cum laude with a perfect 4.0 GPA across all programs. I studied Data Science at the graduate level and Economics (Professional Track) and Development Studies as an undergraduate, pairing academic excellence with extensive leadership and professional experience. At Brown, I co-founded and served as President of the Mergers & Acquisitions Consulting Club (MACC)—the university’s first student group focused on M&A career development—and co-led the university’s inaugural Future of Sustainable Investing Conference (FSICon), raising over $15,000 in sponsorships and attracting 250+ participants. I also served on the Advisory Committee on Corporate Responsibility in Investment Policies (ACCRIP) and contributed to ethical investment discussions as a sector analyst for the Brown Socially Responsible Investment Fund. In addition to leadership, I engaged deeply in research as a Research Assistant in both the Economics and Education departments. I also completed highly selective internships during my time as a student, including IBM’s Extreme Blue program, where I built a cadence optimization engine for global sales, and Keystone Strategy, where I supported tech litigation through competitive landscape analysis and expert research. I further interned at Uzabase in Singapore and contributed to civic analytics with Bluebonnet Data. I was honored with several awards and fellowships, including the Academic Excellence in Development Studies Award, the Explore Grant from the Nelson Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Careers in the Common Good Fellowship. I was also selected for prestigious programs such as Harvard Business School Peek Weekend, Out for Undergrad Business Conference, Goldman Sachs When Women Lead, the Kairos Society Global Fellowship, and the Forbes 30 Under 30 Conference. By the end of my time at Brown, I received an offer to join the Digital Practice at McKinsey & Company in New York City, and was admitted to Harvard Business School through the highly competitive 2+2 deferred MBA program—marking a pivotal transition from academic achievement to high-impact, global leadership.
