About Allyson

I didn’t start out knowing what I wanted to do—so I experimented, like many of the individuals I now coach. After college, I worked in the nonprofit world, then unexpectedly fell in love with the restaurant industry while working at Eleven Madison Park in New York. Eventually, I realized that hospitality was close—but not quite the right kind of service for me. That insight led me to earn a master’s in Clinical Social Work, where I stumbled into the field of career development and discovered a professional home. Over the past decade, I’ve supported students from engineering, public policy, and business backgrounds—at Dartmouth, USC, and NYU Stern. My coaching blends empathy with structure, helping clients clarify what they want and how to move toward it, with a special focus on work-life alignment. A second master’s in Applied Positive Psychology deepened my approach, leading to the creation of Circle, a group coaching platform that brings together personal growth and career strategy in a way that’s scalable, connected, and human. Whether I’m working 1:1 or in groups, my goal is the same: to help people feel less stuck, more seen, and more equipped to navigate what’s next.

Why do I coach?

I love guiding a person to discover something new about themselves, to become more self-aware, more clear, and more awake to what they really want and why.

NYU Stern School of Business Logo

Senior Associate Director

NYU Stern School of Business

June 2022 - August 2024

In this role, I managed the career development journey of our Fashion & Luxury MBA students; collaborated with departments across campus to provide enhanced programming and opportunities to students in emerging industries (e.g., sustainability and social impact), designed and led our Peer Mentorship Program and provided 1:1 and group coaching to our FT MBAs.

Associate Director of Career Coaching

NYU Stern School of Business

September 2019 - June 2022

At Stern, I had the opportunity to coach full time MBA students seeking internships and full time roles with a specialization in non-traditional searches. In addition, I collaborated with the Diversity and Inclusion Task Force to provide interpretations of the premier cross-culturally valid assessment for building cultural competence in schools and organizations. When not working with students 1:1, I ran Circle, an evidence-based group coaching method I developed in my Master’s of Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. One of the most rewarding aspects of my role was incorporating principles and tools of Positive Psychology into coaching sessions, career education workshops and managing my direct report.

Associate Director of Career Education

University of Southern California

August 2016 - June 2019

I managed career education and created targeted programming for undergraduate and graduate students at The Price School of Public Policy. This included designing and teaching a career discernment course for master's students, running and growing our flagship mentorship program, introducing personality & behavioral assessments into the disciplines, and producing trainings, seminars and workshops to meet the needs of the university's diverse and underserved student population.

August 2014 - June 2016

I provided targeted resources and personalized guidance to each student and alum looking for jobs and internships, applying to graduate school, and seeking specific strategies to best navigate the world of work. In the fall and spring, I organized our on-site and virtual career fairs, and throughout my time at Thayer, I wrote and developed all new content for our website, social media outlets, newsletter and instructional guides for our students. Additionally, I partnered with the Associate Director of Advancement and liaised with senior faculty members and staff to plan and produce Thayer’s Inaugural Alumni Weekend.

June 2013 - August 2014

Does salary negotiation look different for men and women? What are the current opportunities in the nonprofit sector? Has the career outlook changed for students in the liberal arts as opposed to STEM fields? These are just a few of the topics I covered in workshops that I designed and facilitated at the Wasserman Center. In addition to conducting resume and cover letter reviews, I connected students to Professionals to Nonprofits to help them secure internships and jobs that they were excited about. Most importantly, I realized my passion for career development through my work at NYU.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my position came from connecting job seekers from all walks of life to organizations that they were passionate about serving. As an executive recruiter, I strove to make the most successful match possible benefiting the client and the candidate.
