20+ people coached for Product Marketing

Abid has helped clients get into these companies:

I’ve spent my career inside product marketing teams at scale, doing the actual work PMMs are hired to do—figuring out positioning when the product is messy, aligning cross-functional teams that don’t naturally agree, and translating real customer insight into narratives that land with executives, sales, and the market. I currently lead product marketing for Employee Workflows at ServiceNow, and before that spent nearly seven years at Microsoft, working across launches, portfolio storytelling, and high-stakes go-to-market moments. I’ve been in the room when messaging falls apart, when launches wobble, and when PMMs are expected to have answers without clear inputs. My coaching focuses on helping PMMs think and communicate more clearly under pressure. That includes sharpening positioning and messaging, preparing for interviews and role transitions, building executive presence, and learning how to tell credible stories about impact without exaggeration or jargon. I work best with PMMs who want to get more precise about what they actually do, why it matters, and how to articulate it—whether they’re breaking into PMM, leveling up, or trying to regain confidence after a rough stretch. This isn’t generic advice; it’s grounded in lived experience and tuned to the realities of modern product marketing teams.

About Abid

I’m a product marketing leader who came to coaching the long way around. I’ve spent 15+ years inside large organizations and fast-moving tech companies, leading teams, navigating reorgs, sitting in executive rooms, and being on the other side of the interview table more times than I can count. I know how these systems work because I’ve lived inside them. I also know what it’s like to rebuild from the ground up. I failed out of college, started over later in life, carried imposter syndrome for years, and learned—slowly—how to build a career that actually fits who I am. My work now sits at the intersection of ambition, identity, and clarity. I help people make sense of where they are, what’s no longer working, and how to move forward without pretending the process is clean or linear.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I’ve seen how easy it is to lose your footing when the external markers of success stop lining up with how you feel inside. Promotions don’t fix uncertainty. Stability doesn’t erase doubt. And being capable doesn’t mean you’re clear. Along the way, a few people asked better questions of me than I knew how to ask myself. They didn’t give me answers—they helped me see patterns, name tradeoffs, and stop outsourcing my decisions to fear or momentum. Coaching is how I try to offer that same kind of thinking space to others. Not scripts. Not motivation. Just honest, grounded work to help you understand yourself well enough to choose deliberately how you want to live and work next. If you want, next pass we can tune this slightly depending on whether the audience skew is more career, life, or mental health—or strip it down even further.

Director of Product Marketing

ServiceNow

September 2024 - Present

At ServiceNow, our technology makes the world work for everyone, and our people make it possible. We move fast because the world can’t wait, and we innovate in ways no one else can for our customers and communities. In my role leading product marketing for Employee Workflows, I'm responsible for driving the messaging, positioning, and thought leadership for ServiceNow’s Employee Experience, HR Service Delivery, and Talent solutions.

Microsoft Logo

Director of Product Marketing

Microsoft

February 2018 - August 2024

Hiring Manager

At Microsoft, I grew from Senior Product Marketing Manager to Director, leading high-impact initiatives across cloud, AI, and enterprise solutions. My time there was defined by scale and transformation—building go-to-market strategies that reached millions, mentoring rising talent, and helping cross-functional teams unlock their best work. I wasn’t just shipping messaging—I was shaping how global customers understood the value of innovation. I earned trust by leading with clarity, lifting others up, and consistently delivering results that mattered to both the business and the people behind it.

Senior Director Platform Strategy

Endurance International Group

November 2016 - February 2018

Hiring Manager

At Endurance International Group, I led product marketing for a diverse portfolio of digital solutions serving millions of small and medium businesses worldwide. As the voice of the customer and the market, I drove positioning, messaging, and launch strategies across multiple brands—including Bluehost, Constant Contact, and HostGator—each with unique audiences and value props. I played a central role in unifying go-to-market efforts, bringing cross-functional teams into alignment, and influencing product direction with market-backed insights. It was a fast-moving, high-impact environment where I learned how to scale storytelling, champion customer empathy, and drive measurable growth at the intersection of product and brand.

BIA/Kelsey

December 2013 - November 2016

Admissions Committee

At BIA/Kelsey, a boutique research and advisory firm focused on the SMB marketing landscape, I wore two key hats: public-facing thought leader and trusted strategic advisor. As a senior director and analyst, I worked directly with industry giants like Google, Facebook, and Amazon to help shape their mobile, social, and local strategies for reaching small businesses. I also served as a go-to media spokesperson—appearing in national outlets and at major events to break down trends in small business tech adoption and marketing behavior. It was a rare role that blended sharp analysis, storytelling, and influence—positioning me at the intersection of data, strategy, and real-world impact.

Senior Product Marketing Manager

AT&T

February 2010 - March 2013

Admissions Committee

As Senior Product Marketing Manager at AT&T Interactive, I led marketing strategy for YP.com and YPConnect—two cornerstone products serving millions of local businesses and consumers. I owned a $122M P&L and was responsible for the full spectrum of product marketing: market research, positioning, competitive analysis, go-to-market planning, and sales enablement. I partnered closely with product, sales, and engineering to bring new features to market and drive adoption at scale. It was high stakes, high visibility work that demanded both analytical rigor and cross-functional leadership—and it gave me a deep understanding of the local advertising ecosystem at a time of massive digital disruption.

Education

American University Logo

American University

Bachelor of Science (BS), International Finance, Finance

2000 - 2004

I earned my bachelor’s degree in International Finance from American University—but the path there wasn’t a straight line. I actually failed out during my freshman year, which was a wake-up call I didn’t see coming. Instead of giving up, I hit reset. I went to community college, rebuilt my academic foundation, and worked my way back to AU with a renewed sense of purpose. That scenic route taught me resilience, grit, and how to bounce back stronger—lessons that have shaped not just my education, but my entire career.
