Welcome to my profile! I am a highly qualified ACT Math instructor, with perfect scores on the SAT, SAT II Math, GRE Quant, and ACT Math. I have been tutoring for over a decade, both independently and in the competitive NYC market, helping students achieve top scores—including perfect scores on the SAT Math, SAT Math II, and ACT Science, as well as GRE Quant scores as high as 166. Carl has taught, literally, thousands of students to succeed on the ACT, and thousands more the SAT, LSAT, GRE, and GMAT, over a career spanning over two decades in the test preparation world. Originally an academic, he holds advanced degrees from Yale, the University of Glasgow, and the University of Georgia, and since leaving academia he has taught, tutored, and written content for Magoosh, Kaplan, Harvard Prep, SuccessPrep, Parliament Tutors, Varsity Tutors, and many other companies, and has since founded his own company, Ivory Tower Tutoring. He was also, for many years, the chief writer for Barron''s GMAT product line.

The ACT is fast becoming my favorite undergraduate entrance exam. Although I did not take it in high school, once I began tutoring the SAT for Kaplan, I was asked to try the ACT. I tested in and started cracking the code. After working with at least 400 clients on this exam, I've become familiar with its patterns, and I've tailored techniques to improve any student's experience with this test. Like the SAT, the ACT has recently been shortened, and the Science section is no longer required. As such, I believe this is the best time to take this test.
