About Zach
I’m a former Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company and now VP of Strategy & Business Development at a leading biotech company. I’ve been on both sides of the table—successfully navigating consulting recruiting myself, and later evaluating and developing talent within high-performance environments. At McKinsey, I worked across 30+ engagements across industries eventually focusing on life science and healthcare. I was promoted twice in three years reaching the role of Engagement Manager. I also lead recruiting efforts for healthcare profiles growing the organisation from 3 to 10+ consultants. I understand what top firms actually look for beyond the polished answers—how candidates think, communicate, and perform under pressure. I’ve helped candidates sharpen their case structuring, problem-solving, and storytelling to stand out in competitive processes. My approach is direct, practical, and tailored: I focus on how to think like a consultant, not just how to pass interviews. Before consulting, I completed a PhD in Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet, which means I bring a structured, analytical approach to breaking down complex problems, something I now apply to coaching candidates from diverse backgrounds, including those transitioning into consulting.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I’ve seen how opaque and uneven the consulting recruiting process can be even for highly capable people. A first generation college student with an unconventional academic profile, I had to figure out much of it myself early in my career. I saw how small differences in thinking and communication, not raw intelligence often determined who got offers and how well they performed. I work with candidates to make the process transparent and meritocratic. Focusing on how to think, structure problems, and communicate clearly under pressure. My goal isn’t just to help you “get through” interviews, but to operate at the level top firms expect from day one.
