Vicki’s Medical Residency & Fellowships Qualifications

Coaches professionally

As a board-certified physician with 17+ years of advising experience, I bring both real-world clinical insight and a deep understanding of what residency programs are truly looking for. I’ve successfully guided students and applicants across multiple specialties—including Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Peds, and OB/GYN—helping them craft compelling applications, refine their personal narratives, and strategically position themselves for success. My approach goes beyond surface-level edits; I focus on aligning your experiences, letters, and interview performance into a cohesive, standout story. What sets me apart is my expertise in working with applicants who may feel at a disadvantage—whether due to lower scores, gaps, or reapplication status. I specialize in identifying and reframing “red flags” into strengths, helping you present your journey with clarity, confidence, and authenticity. From ERAS strategy to interview preparation, I provide honest, personalized guidance so you can approach the match process with a clear plan and a competitive edge.

About Vicki

Dr. Vicki graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Integrative Biology and Minor in Education. She completed her D.O. medical degree at Touro University California on merit/service medical school scholarship, where she also obtained a certificate in Global Health and was part of the Osteopathic Service and Honor Society Sigma Sigma Phi. She went on to pursue a full-spectrum UC Davis-affiliated family medicine program in California’s underserved areas of Central Valley, where she also completed an area of concentration in Urgent Care Medicine. She currently works as a full-time urgent care physician in Southern California and happily married to her primary care physician husband whom she met during her residency years!

Why do I coach?

Throughout my medical journey, I’ve faced many roadblocks and often felt like an underdog in both the medical school and residency application process. Because of that, I strongly believe there are multiple paths to becoming a physician—even non-traditional ones—as long as you have clarity in your goals and genuine passion for the field. I understand firsthand how discouraging and isolating this process can feel, especially when your application doesn’t fit the “traditional” mold. That perspective is what drives the way I mentor—meeting you where you are and helping you move forward with intention and confidence. I’ve worked with students navigating challenges such as lower science MCAT/GPAs, financial constraints, gap years, re-applicants, post-baccalaureate programs, international medical school grads, and more. Over the past several years, I’ve helped dozens of students successfully find their own path to and through medical school and residency —on a timeline that works for them. My approach goes beyond general advising—I focus on helping you build a clear, personalized strategy, strengthen your narrative, and confidently address any “red flags” in a way that highlights growth and resilience. I hope to use my own experiences not only to guide, but to genuinely support and advocate for you as you work toward becoming a physician and beyond.
