About Ty

Ty Umoh is an experienced finance professional with over 15+ years of experience spanning private equity, investment banking, and strategic advisory, with a focus on M&A, special situations, and value creation across the healthcare, financial services, technology, energy finance, and human capital sectors. Previously, Mr. Umoh worked at St. Cloud Capital, a $1.6 billion lower-middle market private equity firm based in Los Angeles. While at St. Cloud, he was responsible for deal sourcing, execution, due diligence, and portfolio value creation, partnering with management teams to drive operational improvement and strategic growth. During his tenure, he also served as interim CFO for a venture-backed digital health technology platform, overseeing corporate FP&A, pricing optimization, and growth initiatives across product lines including remote patient monitoring, chronic care management, and biometric wearables. In addition to healthcare technology, Mr. Umoh has advised and evaluated investments in insurance services, professional employer organizations (PEOs), and tech-enabled benefits platforms, focusing on financial structuring, recurring revenue modeling, and post-close integration. His work in these sectors includes partnering with management teams to develop scalable growth strategies, streamline underwriting and claims operations, and enhance customer acquisition efficiency within tech-enabled insurance and HR solutions businesses. Prior to joining St. Cloud Capital, Mr. Umoh worked at FTI Consulting, where he advised clients on restructuring, turnaround strategy, and performance improvement, and at BNY Mellon Capital Markets, LLC, where he focused on M&A, leveraged buyouts, and corporate carve-outs across the energy, technology, and telecom sectors.

Why do I coach?

I coach because I know firsthand how opaque and intimidating this path can be, even for talented, driven people. I benefited enormously from mentors who took the time to explain not just the mechanics of investing, but how to think, prepare, and carry yourself in high pressure environments. Having someone translate expectations and provide honest feedback made a real difference in my own development. Over time, I saw how many capable candidates struggle not because they lack ability, but because they lack access to that kind of guidance. Coaching matters to me because it levels the playing field. I enjoy helping people build confidence, sharpen judgment, and avoid mistakes I had to learn the hard way, so they can show up prepared and authentic when it matters most.
