Mentor

Minds Matter is a non-profit organization helping high-achieving high school students coming from low-income backgrounds. Through their 3 years in the organization, students receive weekly instruction and mentoring from volunteers, helping them broaden their dreams and prepare them for success in college. As a mentor, I helped my Mentee discover her voice, apply and get accepted into multiple colleges, and pursue summer opportunities in her desired career path. As the Summer Learning Lead, I lead a team of volunteers for our 2 summer opportunities: Sophomore Summer Programs and Junior Summer Experience. The goal is to help our mentees self-reflect on their interests, research opportunities, apply to these opportunities, and prepare to attend an opportunity. As Lead, my responsibility involves pre-planning the curriculum, managing our budget, researching and finding unique opportunities for our students, and collaborating with my fantastic team to make it all happen.
