I am a licensed attorney with over 20 years of experience in healthcare compliance law. Currently, I am a Compliance Attorney for Houston Methodist and previously I workded as a Compliance Attorney and Vice President of Human Resources, Risk Management and Legal for Ascension Health with responsibility for several states, including Texas, Arkansas, Missouri and Louisiana. Prior to that, I was an Attorney Advisor for the Office of Medicare Appeals with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and an Administrative Law Judge for Arizona State. While living in Florida, I provided legal consulting services to healthcare providers located throughout the country. I started my career in healthcare with the military and later attended Loyola Law School. I have held several roles as a Compliance Officer and also as University Professor. I hold a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Management from the University of New Orleans and I am certified through the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders. I have led large compliance operations, intersecting both healthcare and housing, in areas that address the social determinants that impact healthcare outcomes. I also owned a heaalthcare billing company. I have published works in health disparities and I have sat on several local boards. I am an active member of the Bar Association and I regularly contribute to my local community.
