About Patrick
I’m a fractional CFO, transaction advisor, and passionate educator known in the M&A community as “The QofE Guy.” With more than two decades of experience, I’ve helped guide over 100 transactions exceeding $2 billion in value. I teach acquisition entrepreneurs and searchers how to understand the story their numbers tell and how to use those insights to make better decisions. As Head of Transaction Advisory at Amplēo, I work with clients across finance, valuations, HR, and marketing. Having personally bought and sold a business, I understand what it feels like to be on both sides of the table, and I bring that empathy into every coaching relationship. I hold an MBA in Finance and am a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA). I frequently speak and write on topics such as Quality of Earnings, red flags in diligence, and how to think like an investor. Outside of work, you’ll often find me mountain biking, hiking, or camping with my wife, Erin. And yes, I’m the guy who wears a shirt that says, “Warning: may start talking about EBITDA.”
Why do I coach?
I coach because I believe financial understanding is one of the most empowering tools an entrepreneur can have. Early in my career, mentors helped me see that numbers are not just data points but the narrative of a business. That perspective changed everything for me, and now I love helping others experience that same clarity. Through coaching, I teach searchers and acquisition entrepreneurs how to perform their own Quality of Earnings type of analysis. My goal is to help them gain confidence in their deals and develop a repeatable skill set they can use throughout their careers. Seeing that moment when someone says, “Now I get it. I can do this,” is what makes coaching so rewarding for me. I have been on both sides of the table as a buyer, seller, and CFO, and I know how overwhelming diligence can feel. My focus is to simplify it, humanize it, and make it actionable. Once you understand how to read the story your numbers are telling, you are not just acquiring a business. You are building your future.
