About Nevin

I am a pediatric dentist with over ten years of experience in clinical practice. I have a passion for mentoring students that began in college. I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. I then went on to attend Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health where I earned a DMD as well as a certificate in Public Health. I am delighted to have the opportunity to give back by helping students achieve their dream of becoming a dentist. My dental journey began in Austin, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a BA in Biology. I discovered my predilection for advising while working as a Sexual Health Peer Advisor where I counseled students and answered their questions regarding reproductive health. Following dental school, I moved to Louisville, Kentucky where I worked for one year as a general dentist at a local family practice. I quickly realized I enjoyed working with children and adolescents which led me to pursue a pediatric dental residency and earn a Master of Science in Dentistry and Pediatric Dental Certificate at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. During my time at U of L, I received extensive training in pediatric conscious oral sedation, treatment of children with special needs, behavior management, and hospital dentistry. While in residency, I was an active participant in the admissions process and helped conduct interviews, review applications, and rank candidates. This experience allowed me to gain an insider perspective and understanding of the admissions process. Always striving to stay on top of new innovations, I recently achieved Solea Dental Laser certification. I am an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, Texas Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. As an admissions consultant, my unique approach involves starting off by putting the applicant at ease as their frame of mind is tantamount to achieving their goals. I place a strong emphasis on getting to know my students and identifying their unique attributes. I strive to help students determine why they want to pursue a career in dentistry and keep that motivation at the forefront of their mind throughout the process. I will help applicants stay organized and tackle the journey one step at a time. As a seasoned pediatric dentist, I can answer questions that relate to clinical practice and offer my personal experiences and anecdotes to help students grasp the day-to-day life of a dentist.
