Neha’s Medical School Qualifications
Hello and welcome to my profile! As a current Resident Physician at Mount Sinai Hospital and a Doctor of Medicine graduate from Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine, I bring a wealth of firsthand experience to the medical school admissions process. My background in research, including work on cell adhesion molecules and transcription factors, has equipped me with a deep understanding of the scientific rigor required in medical education. Additionally, my experience tutoring diverse age groups has honed my ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively. I'm passionate about mentoring aspiring medical students and helping them craft standout applications. As a 3rd medical student who did not have a mentor, I welcomed questions from new first year medical students and helped them navigate through the early years of medical school. Moreover, I bestowed upon them the advice needed to tackle board exams and shelf exams for rotations. As someone who graduated from an osteopathic medical school, I have passed and excelled in both my USMLE and COMLEX exams. Let's work together to navigate the path to your dream medical school!

Undergraduate Research Assistant
M-KOPA
August 2018 - May 2019
Worked as an undergraduate research assistant at Dr. Melitta Schachner's lab. Conducted research to determine the interaction between cell adhesion molecule CHL1 and calcium binding protein PEF1 in cerebellar granule cells. Used double immunostaining, proximity ligation assay, and ELISA to determine if there were interactions between CHL1 and PEF1. Western blots and Co-IP were also performed to assay for interactions. Additionally, I have experience handling mice and have conducted various behavior tests using 3-month old mice to determine the behavioral differences between mutant CHL1 mice and wild-type mice.

Computer Science Tutor
Milwaukee Public Library

Tutored elderly individuals on basic computer applications. Assisted in helping the elderly learn about typing techniques and using the typing application Mavis Beacon. Helped an elderly book-lover to create an Amazon account with which he purchased his first book.

Undergraduate Research Assistant
M-KOPA
January 2017 - May 2017
Worked as an undergraduate research assistant at Dr. Kwan's lab. Conducted research on the role of transcription factor SHOX2 in hearing cell fate. Genotyping of zebrafish fins was done and amplified via PCR to find mutant shox2 zebrafish. Used staining techniques like in situ hybridization and fluorescence microscopy to determine if shox2 plays a role in the development of the otic placode.
