About Matthew

I’ve built my career at the intersection of technology, language, and human connection. I currently run an AI-powered EdTech startup and serve as a course facilitator for one of Stanford’s online AI programs. Before that, I studied AI at Stanford, founded a mental health startup, and worked in data science and analytics at Facebook, Capital One, and Vivint Smart Home. After more than a decade in industry, I took a nontraditional leap back to school—a mix of burnout, curiosity, and a desire to have a bigger impact. That decision reflects how I think about learning, growth, and reinvention, and it’s why I now love helping others navigate their own pivots into AI. Outside of work, I a lot of my weekends are spent coaching my kids in soccer or skiing with them. I coach with the same mix of pragmatism, structure, and encouragement I bring to those moments—helping you use AI not just because it’s trendy, but because it can make a genuine difference in your life.

Why do I coach?

I’ve always been drawn to coaching. One of my primary inspirations is my high school physics teacher, who left a lucrative career to teach high school students and knew how to engage us while constantly challenging us to reach the next level. That experience stuck with me—I’ve grown the most when someone helped me see the next gap I could close right now. Some of the most meaningful moments in my career have come from helping others have those same “aha” moments—whether leading teams, mentoring peers, or guiding students through AI projects at Stanford. I love watching things click for someone, when they see not just what’s possible but how to make it happen. I coach because I believe growth happens through curiosity, challenge, and encouragement. My goal is for every session to leave you with practical tools, a clear next step, and the energy to go build something meaningful.
