About Mathias
Hi! My name is Mathias and my goal is to help clients gain admittance to their dream schools and land their dream jobs -- full stop. Whether its collaborating on standout personal statements, refining and punching-up resumes, running through mock interviews, or even creating a high-level strategy for where and when to apply, my job is to help you hit your most ambitious graduate education goals. As a personalized MBA application coach, I help clients apply to some the most selective programs in the country. I place particular emphasis on essays & personal statement support, crafting compelling career narratives, fine-tuning resumes, preparing your recommenders to give strong letters of support, and preparing for admission interviews. I love working with clients to develop personalized applications that powerfully reflect their unique strengths and experiences. Much of my perspective stems from my extensive personal experience navigating graduate application processes. I graduated with my MBA and Master of Public Policy from the University of Chicago (2020-23), but also gained admittance to MBA programs at MIT ($30K scholarship), Dartmouth ($80K scholarship), Yale ($120K scholarship), and UC Berkeley ($15K scholarship). I have extensive professional experience (at Microsoft, the Chicago Mayor's Office, and several leading consulting firms) and career/admission coaching experience from my time at UChicago. I earned my economics degree (with honors) from Washington University in St. Louis in 2015. I now live in Seattle and work in a strategy function at Microsoft, where I focus on identifying and pursuing the next big drivers of revenue growth for the firm. I love rock climbing, tending to my out-of-control houseplant collection, and waking up stupidly early to watch English soccer on the weekends.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I want to make the grad school & job application processes less intimidating and more accessible for candidates. On graduate programs, I remember exploring MBA consultant options when I was applying and finding rates that were OUT OF CONTROL. My father gifted me several hundred dollars for a single resume review, which felt very surface-level and largely unhelpful. What I commit to providing my clients is an all-in partnership mindset: I'll meet you where you are and work with you to identify, plan against, and overcome your biggest hurdles in the application process. We'll craft unique stories that showcase your greatest strengths and unique potential, and we'll demystify the entire process. On career development & job applications, I'm motivated to help clients find & land career opportunities amidst a challenging job market. I know firsthand how overwhelming the process of finding a competitive job is, and how important support throughout the process can be. With ample experience successfully applying to competitive organizations in high tech (Google, Microsoft), the public sector (Chicago Mayor's Office, St. Louis Mayor's Office), and consulting (Economic & Policy Consulting), I want to help you navigate the endlessly frustrating job market with confidence!
