Lara’s Law School Qualifications
Hi there! I’m Lara, a current 1L at Columbia Law School and a proud first-generation, Latina law student. My journey to law school was driven by a passion for advocacy, and now I’m dedicated to helping you find your own seat at the table. As a "reverse splitter" applicant who secured multiple full-tuition scholarships, I know firsthand that your worth is so much more than just a set of numbers. I specialize in helping students leverage their unique lived experiences to build a narrative that admissions committees can't ignore. Before coaching, I served as a 1L Admissions and Recruitment Representative for the Latinx Law Students Association (LaLSA) and held office hours to demystify the JD process. Whether it’s polishing your personal statement or navigating the complexities of being a first-gen applicant, I’m here to be your mentor and biggest cheerleader. Let’s turn your law school dreams into an acceptance letter!

About Lara
As a first-generation student and a current 2L at Columbia Law School, my journey to the legal field was driven by a desire to turn the impossible into reality. My path wasn't a straight line; it was built on persistence and a deep belief in the power of a holistic narrative. Coming into the admissions cycle as a "reverse splitter" with a 164 LSAT, I knew I had to make every other part of my application shine! I sat for the LSAT three times, refusing to let a single number define my potential. By focusing on my unique story, professional background, and community advocacy, I secured admission to CLS and earned multiple full-tuition scholarships. Beyond my own studies, I have served as an Admissions and Recruitment Representative for the Latinx Law Students Association (LaLSA) at Columbia. In this role, I held office hours for prospective applicants. I love helping students, especially those from first-generation backgrounds, leverage their personal strengths to accomplish their law school dreams!
Why do I coach?
Coaching matters to me because I know exactly what it feels like to look at a dream school’s median scores and feel like the door is closed. I am living proof that it isn't. I believe in the holistic admissions process because a law school class is not a collection of data points; it is a collection of people, perspectives, and passions. For many students, particularly those navigating these systems for the first time, the biggest hurdle isn't talent, it’s the lack of a roadmap. Through my experience independently mentoring dozens of students on their personal statements and resumes, I’ve seen how the right encouragement can transform an applicant’s confidence. I am passionate about providing the strategic advice and moral support needed to navigate the complexities of the JD process. Seeing a student realize that they belong in these spaces is why I do this. With the proper guidance, I truly believe every dedicated student can succeed in reaching their target goals!
