About Lara
As a first-generation student and a current 2L at Columbia Law School, my journey to the legal field was driven by a desire to turn the impossible into reality. My path wasn't a straight line; it was built on persistence and a deep belief in the power of a holistic narrative. Coming into the admissions cycle as a "reverse splitter" with a 164 LSAT, I knew I had to make every other part of my application shine! I sat for the LSAT three times, refusing to let a single number define my potential. By focusing on my unique story, professional background, and community advocacy, I secured admission to CLS and earned multiple full-tuition scholarships. Beyond my own studies, I have served as an Admissions and Recruitment Representative for the Latinx Law Students Association (LaLSA) at Columbia. In this role, I held office hours for prospective applicants. I love helping students, especially those from first-generation backgrounds, leverage their personal strengths to accomplish their law school dreams!
Why do I coach?
Coaching matters to me because I know exactly what it feels like to look at a dream school’s median scores and feel like the door is closed. I am living proof that it isn't. I believe in the holistic admissions process because a law school class is not a collection of data points; it is a collection of people, perspectives, and passions. For many students, particularly those navigating these systems for the first time, the biggest hurdle isn't talent, it’s the lack of a roadmap. Through my experience independently mentoring dozens of students on their personal statements and resumes, I’ve seen how the right encouragement can transform an applicant’s confidence. I am passionate about providing the strategic advice and moral support needed to navigate the complexities of the JD process. Seeing a student realize that they belong in these spaces is why I do this. With the proper guidance, I truly believe every dedicated student can succeed in reaching their target goals!
