Kim’s MBA Qualifications
10+ people coached for MBA
HBS MBA from a non-traditional path — I didn't fit the standard profile and got in anyway. I work with applicants who have compelling stories they haven't yet learned to tell: career changers, founders, first-generation students, and people whose backgrounds don't map neatly onto a consulting or banking trajectory. I help you build an application that's authentically yours and makes the case for why your path is an asset, not an exception.

About Kim
I've spent over a decade at the intersection of finance, startups, and company-building — and most of that time, I was figuring it out without a roadmap. My background spans investment banking and startup banking at J.P. Morgan, corporate strategy at VICE and Yahoo, co-founding and scaling a company from pre-seed through Series A, and several years in venture capital. I completed my MBA at Harvard Business School and have served on nonprofit boards and as an advisor to early-stage founders across the Midwest. I work with three kinds of people: Career changers breaking into finance — especially those coming from non-traditional backgrounds who need to translate their experience into the language of banking, VC, or startups. I've made that translation myself, and I know how to help you make it credibly. Non-traditional MBA applicants — people who don't fit the "standard" profile but have a compelling story they haven't learned to tell yet. I went to HBS from a non-traditional path, and I can help you build an application that actually represents who you are. Ambitious professionals figuring out what's next — people who've achieved what they set out to achieve and are now quietly asking harder questions. What do I actually want? What am I building toward? I work at the intersection of strategy and self-awareness, helping you cut through the noise and move. My style is direct, warm, and tactical. I won't tell you what you want to hear — I'll tell you what will actually help you get where you're going. If any of that sounds like you, I'd love to connect.
Why do I coach?
I coach because no one coached me — and I know exactly what that costs. I'm a first-generation American, the first in my family to go to college, get a graduate degree, and build financial stability from scratch. My mother died at 42 from the stress of a financial system that preyed on people who didn't know the rules. My father never recovered. I started working at 14 and never stopped. I navigated NYU, Harvard Business School, venture capital, and corporate banking without a roadmap, a safety net, or anyone who had done it before me. I figured out the hidden rules of every room I walked into — often after making the expensive mistake of not knowing them. What I've learned is that talent is never the constraint. Access to honest, specific guidance is. I coach because I can be the person I needed. The one who tells you what the room actually requires, what your blind spots are, and what you're capable of that you haven't let yourself see yet.
