As a current career counselor at Georgia State University, I am consistently learning about new trends in resume formatting, interview techniques, career planning, networking, and all things career related. This will allow me to pass along the most updated career development guidance to you. I am passionate about helping each client I work with find a job that suits their skillset, and I make sure that this job has opportunity for advancement as well. Before I worked at Georgia State University, I worked at another career center at The Citadel. My training as a career counselor is unique, because I have learned all of my career counseling strategies after COVID-19. The job market is different than it used to be, and I have learned how to advise young adults in the midst of hiring uncertainty. I look forward to meeting with you!

About Joseph
I have always highly valued education and learning. I studied hard in high school, which led to earning a scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University. As a first generation college student, I was not aware of the goals I should be working towards in college. I didn't choose the best major for my career goals, and I didn't do any internships or meaningful extracurricular activities. When I graduated from college during COVID-19, I wasn't able to find a job I was happy with. The frustration I felt led me to wonder what makes some college students successful in college, while others fall behind. The answer I landed on was access to information. So, I went to graduate school, earned my school counseling certification, and started working at career centers. Through my job, I am able to provide high school students, college students, and alumni with career knowledge that I wish I had when I was in their position. I love the work I do, and I believe that providing access to information is a leading factor in social mobility.
Why do I coach?
I coach because I want to help people get to a better standing in life. I believe a good conversation with a career counselor can change the trajectory of someone's life, by providing them access to quality job opportunities. I aim to increase social mobility for high school students, college students, and early career professionals who are navigating a tumultuous post-covid workforce.
