Forrest’s Medical School Qualifications

Forrest has helped clients get into these schools:

I am an incoming integrated Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery resident at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the most competitive specialties and training programs in medicine. I was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha, scored a 263 on USMLE Step 2, and built a highly competitive application from a less nationally recognized medical school. I understand firsthand what it takes to stand out in a crowded applicant pool—not just through strong metrics, but through strategic positioning, narrative development, and deliberate planning. In addition to my academic performance, I have developed extensive expertise in writing and application strategy through my research experience. I have authored over 75 peer-reviewed publications, including first-author work in high-impact journals such as JAMA Surgery and JAMA Ophthalmology, and have presented nationally at major conferences. This level of writing experience allows me to help applicants craft compelling, polished personal statements and activity descriptions that effectively communicate their strengths and differentiate them from other candidates. I also bring a strong mentorship background, having worked closely with students on application strategy, research development, and narrative building. My approach is highly individualized and strategy-driven. I focus on helping applicants not only improve their materials, but understand how admissions committees think and what truly makes an application competitive. My goal is to help you present the strongest, most authentic version of yourself and maximize your chances of success.

About Forrest

I am an incoming Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery resident at the University of Pennsylvania, one of the most competitive training pathways in medicine. I completed my medical education at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine, where I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and achieved a USMLE Step 2 score of 263. My path to this point has been defined by a strong commitment to academic excellence and research. I have authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications, including first-author work in journals such as JAMA Surgery and JAMA Ophthalmology, and have presented my research at national conferences including Plastic Surgery The Meeting (PSTM) and the American Council of Educators in Plastic Surgery (ACEPS). I was also recognized with the highest-rated abstract at PSTM, earning an invitation to present in the Top Rated Abstracts plenary session. Prior to medical school, I spent over a year as a full-time researcher at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) through the Intramural Research Training Award, where I worked in virology and infectious disease research. I later returned to the NIH as a summer intern, continuing my work in translational science. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in both research methodology and academic writing, which I now apply to mentoring students. Beyond my own achievements, I have extensive experience advising and mentoring pre-medical and medical students on a voluntary basis. I have worked closely with applicants on personal statements, activity descriptions, and overall application strategy, helping them develop compelling narratives and position themselves competitively for medical school admission. My approach is highly individualized and strategy-driven. I focus on helping applicants not only present strong metrics, but also craft a clear, authentic story that distinguishes them in a crowded applicant pool. Whether you are building your application from the ground up or refining it for submission, my goal is to help you maximize your potential and present your strongest possible version to admissions committees.

Why do I coach?

Coaching matters to me because I understand how overwhelming and high-stakes the path to medicine can feel, especially for students who don’t come from well-known institutions or who don’t have built-in access to strong mentorship. I experienced this firsthand coming from a less nationally recognized medical school, where differentiating myself required a high level of intentionality, strategy, and persistence. Along the way, I was fortunate to learn from excellent mentors who helped me refine my approach to research, writing, and career decision-making. Their guidance was instrumental in helping me build a competitive profile, ultimately allowing me to match into an integrated plastic surgery residency at the University of Pennsylvania, arguably the top program in the country. That experience showed me how powerful the right mentorship can be, not just in improving an application, but in helping someone understand how to position themselves with confidence and clarity. I coach because I want to provide that same level of insight and strategic guidance to others. I’ve spent years developing the skills that matter most in this process including crafting compelling narratives, identifying what makes applicants stand out, and understanding how decisions are made in competitive selection environments. Helping students translate their experiences into a cohesive, authentic story is something I genuinely enjoy. At the end of the day, coaching is not just about editing essays or improving resumes. It’s about helping people unlock opportunities they may not have thought were within reach. That’s what makes it meaningful to me.
