About Cannon
My passion for computers can be traced back to my childhood playing one of my favorite video games: RollerCoaster Tycoon. That soon evolved into an interest in learning about software and computer programming until I finally started doing it myself in elementary school. Today that love continues to grow as I work as a full-stack software engineer at Leland, a platform built around a mission I find genuinely exciting: helping people access the expertise that can change their lives. A big part of how I contribute to that mission is through AI — I've worked it into basically every stage of development, and there's something that feels really fitting about using a technology that democratizes knowledge to help build a product that does the same thing for people. Before joining Leland, I graduated from BYU and completed the Marriott School of Business's Sandbox Program, where I worked with a team to try to build a software company from the ground up. It's one of those experiences that teaches you things no classroom really can. When I'm not heads down on a project, you can find me outside moving at something close to dangerous speeds. Unlike most people, I prefer to admire nature when I'm rocketing through Provo Canyon on my Ducati or bombing the black diamonds at Utah's ski resorts.
