Medical Student
Virginia Commonwealth University
July 2021 - May 2025

Senior Research Technologist
UNC School of Medicine
February 2021 - May 2024
Conducted a genomic discovery project aiming to find casual genes that contribute to coronary artery disease. Performed CRISPRi design, plasmid cloning, cell culturing, lentiviral production and transduction, bacterial transformation and nucleic acid extraction, single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, gel electrophoresis, and inventory management.

Senior Research Technologist
Labcorp
August 2020 - July 2021
I worked in the COVID-PCR clinical laboratory at LabCorp’s Research Triangle Park location in Durham, North Carolina, where I handled patient COVID-19 specimens daily. My responsibilities included aliquoting, RNA extraction and amplification, and real-time PCR testing. Additionally, I created and presented onboarding materials outlining laboratory techniques and standards of practice.

Research Manager
Appalachian State University
May 2018 - August 2018
Working as a manager of outcomes research data using The Surgical Outcomes System, I collected and analyzed patient outcomes and procedures to address the demands of evidence-based medicine. The primary purpose of this position was to monitor and evaluate the outcomes of various standard of care orthopaedic and sports medicine medical procedures, patient education, and cost effectiveness of treatment procedures and products. During clinical visits regarding surgical intervention, I enrolled patients willing to participate in this research while discussing their preoperative state through patient-reported questionnaires and clinician reported objective measures.

Research Assistant
North Carolina State University
February 2018 - May 2018
During my junior year I worked in the Department of Food, Bioprocessing, and Nutrition Sciences at NC State. I was positioned alongside a graduate student studying Salmonella. The mutated cultures we analyzed targeted genes that transcribed specific proteins pertaining to osmoprotectant secretion and translation. These proteins allow bacteria populations to survive on low-moisture food matrices by changing the cytoplasmic ion concentrations and preventing trans-membrane water loss. My responsibilities during this assistantship included serial dilutions of bacterial colonies, primer design of targeted genes, secretory and osmoregulatory proteins, and conducting PCR amplification.

Teaching Assistant
North Carolina State University
December 2017 - December 2019
I have worked with NC State as a volunteer as well as a paid employee for the Organic Chemistry Department for the past five semesters. As a teaching Assistant for Dr. Kay Sandberg, I shadowed students during class time while they cooperatively work through difficult and thought provoking questions. My office hours are held weekly to meet with students who have inquiries or need extra assistance about course material. I also lead three hour test review sessions before each exam in which I lecture and supplement material. I also assist Dr. Sandberg with any administrative help such as online postings, student communications, and lecture material.
