About Arazoo
I'm a first-generation Kurdish-American and a current resident physician training in psychiatry at CMC/Wake Forest. My journey into medicine wasn't traditional, and that’s exactly why I love helping students carve their own paths to medical school. I graduated from UCLA with a BS in Human Biology and Society, where I first discovered my passion for mental health and psychiatry. But my academic record told a different story: I graduated with a GPA under 3.0. For many, that might have seemed like the end of the road. For me, it was the beginning of a new strategy. After taking two gap years, I rebuilt my application from the ground up. I retook key science courses at my local college, scored a 513 on the MCAT, and worked hard to strengthen every other part of my profile, from my personal statement to my extracurriculars. When I applied in 2020, I did it with intention, resilience, and a much clearer sense of who I was and what I wanted from this career. Now as a resident, I bring that same perspective to coaching. Whether you're navigating academic setbacks, preparing for the MCAT, or figuring out how to tell your story in a compelling way, I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to question whether this path is still possible. I also know what it takes to prove to yourself that it is. Let’s build your comeback story strategically, authentically, and with purpose.
Why do I coach?
I coach for the same reason I went into psychiatry; I’m driven to help people recognize their potential, especially when they’ve been made to doubt it. I know what it’s like to feel like you don’t belong in medicine. I graduated from UCLA with a GPA that nearly disqualified me from applying to medical school altogether. But I pushed forward, retaking courses, scoring a 513 on the MCAT, and building an application that told the truth about who I was and what I overcame. It worked, and now I’m a psychiatry resident at CMC/Wake Forest. What got me here wasn’t just hard work, it was people. Mentors who didn’t sugarcoat things, who validated my effort while also challenging me to be better. I try to be that kind of coach: someone who listens and adapts to your needs and communication style, but also gives you honest feedback when it counts. I don’t believe in being a yes-man. I believe in being a mirror—reflecting your strengths, showing you where the cracks are, and helping you build something solid. Coaching isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s what makes it exciting. I enjoy learning how different people think, communicate, and grow. And I find real meaning in helping others find their own way through this path, especially when the odds feel stacked against them.
