About Angel

Hi, I’m Angel! I was born and raised in California, and graduated from UCLA with a degree in Communication. I’m coming up on my third year working at NASA! Although I majored in communication, I have worked in a dual-role in both project management and finance at NASA. I worked on the flagship mission (Europa Clipper – finding life on Jupiter’s moon) for two years, and I’m currently in the Exoplanets Exploration Program in the Astrophysics Division! When I set my sights on Harvard Business School, I was disheartened that all of my meticulous study strategies, hours upon hours of practice tests, and healthy habits only brought me to below-Harvard-average GRE test scores. After taking the GRE multiple times, I was left with no choice: I was running out of time and had to pivot to the remaining parts of my application. I poured my heart and soul into my essays, and after receiving invitations to interview for three schools, I gained admission into all three: Harvard, Wharton, and Columbia! I realized that essays and interviews can be an applicant's greatest power. After speaking with several Harvard Business School students, alumni, and admissions team members, I confirmed that it’s not the test scores that makes someone special — it’s their story. I hope to help other students who may be doubting themselves or just want some advice in this grueling, yet rewarding, journey. In my free time, I dance, read, and write! A fun fact about me is that I danced in my first movie in 2022 and it’s airing on Amazon Prime this fall! https://www.linkedin.com/in/angel-zhu/

Why do I coach?

You don’t need perfect test scores to gain admission into your dream school. When I was applying for MBA programs, I was frustrated that my test scores were not the stellar scores I had worked for. After taking the GRE multiple times, I pivoted my focus to letting my story shine through my essays and interviews. Through a reflection-based, strategic approach, I unlocked the best-kept secret of MBA admissions: essays and interviews are the most important part of the MBA application process. I want to help you to unlock the power of your story! I also had several coaches and mentors in my MBA application journey. Their support and advice gave me the confidence to be authentically myself in my essays and interviews. I’m eager to pay it forward and be the coach, cheerleader, and moral support of all the applicants I have the opportunity to meet!
